Swedish indie developer Landfall has continued their tradition of releasing April Fool’s Day games with the launch of their latest game Content Warning, following the success of previous releases such as Totally Accurate Battlegrounds and Battle Simulator.
Content Warning is an adorable cooperative horror game in which players take on the roles of a group of characters attempting to capture and upload paranormal footage to the popular platform ‘SpookTube’ in hopes of gaining fame. The game is currently available for free until 6 PM on April 2nd, and has received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with a 97% approval rating from reviewers.
Below is a summary of the features offered by Content Warning:
- In-game handheld working video camera
- 2-4 player online coop
- Voice chat
- ASCII face customization
- Make and save in-game recordings
- Your friends looking and acting silly
- Scary animated physics monsters
- Cursed artifacts
- Flashlights (many)
- Fame (maybe)
Get your squad together and head to the Old World by using the diving bell. While exploring the depths, you can customize your face with the ASCII face customizer, purchase gear, and come face to face with terrifying physics-animated creatures, cursed relics, and other mysterious artifacts.
Don’t forget to capture as many terrifying moments as you can before you run out of oxygen, camera battery, or companions. Once you make it out alive, return to the diving bell to be transported back to the surface with the rest of your team. Share your chaotic footage on SpookTube, gather for a viewing party, and watch as the views start to rise.
Each run on SpookTube lasts for 3 days, and the amount of frightening content you capture determines your level of virality. The earnings from your videos allow you to upgrade your equipment for improved filming and to navigate the challenges of the Old World. If your team manages to accumulate a sufficient number of views within the 3-day period, you can continue your SpookTube journey and enjoy a life of fame and wealth.
