Fan Reactions to the Recent Rumors
Upon hearing the news, some fans expressed worries about the availability of adequate content for a prospective Season 3.
Several scenarios could play out from these concerns: Typically, each season has featured around 25 episodes; however, it’s possible that the third season may be shorter. Alternatively, the announcement might lead to a release date set for 2026 or beyond. Additionally, there’s a chance these rumors pertain to a different format, such as a new film rather than a full season.
Despite these uncertainties, many fans remain optimistic, especially given the stellar animation quality delivered by Studio C2C. There is a high level of trust that the studio will maintain its impressive standards in any sequels.
Overview of Shangri-La Frontier

Shangri-La Frontier originates from a self-published novel series by Katarina, likely a pseudonym, and has been available online since 2017 on Shosetsuka ni Narou.
Kodansha later acquired rights for a manga adaptation, which has been serializing weekly in Shonen Magazine since 2020, illustrated by Ryosuke Fuji. To date, 20 volumes are available in Japan.
The story is set in a near-future world where virtual reality games have become ubiquitous, causing traditional non-VR games to be categorized as ‘retro.’ As the VR gaming landscape expands, numerous subpar “trash games”arise. The protagonist, Rakuro Hizutome, finds excitement in these flawed games and adopts the online moniker Sunraku.
In this vibrant gaming environment, Hizutome embarks on an adventure in a game called “Shangri-La Frontier”, utilizing his expertise as a self-proclaimed “trash gamer”to navigate its challenges.
Viewers can stream Shangri-La Frontier with both subbed and dubbed options available on Crunchyroll.
