How to Capture a Budew

First Appearance |
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl |
---|---|
Evolves Into |
Roselia with high Friendship, Roserade with a Shiny Stone |
Type |
Grass/Poison |
Upon entering Wild Zone 2, veer left to find a patch of tall grass, where you can practice sneaking techniques taught by another trainer. Budew is easily approachable, so just sneak up and use a Poké Ball to catch it.
This Grass/Poison-type Pokémon is vulnerable to many elements, including Fire and Poison. Budew holds tactical value for battles against Rock, Water, and Ground types, making it a savvy addition to your collection.
The Path to Gyarados

First Appearance |
Pokémon Red and Blue |
---|---|
Evolves Into |
Gyarados at level 20 |
Type |
Water |
To get a Gyarados, you must first capture its preliminary form—Magikarp. After securing Budew, make your way to a nearby bridge where you’ll encounter some Magikarp swimming below.
These goofy fish will flop right into your path, making them an easy target. Tossing a Poké Ball should suffice since they lack any significant attack abilities. Magikarp, a Water-type, is effective against Fire, Ground, and Rock types and evolves into Gyarados at level 20, or you can expedite the evolution process using candy.
How to Obtain a Binacle

First Appearance |
Pokémon X and Y |
---|---|
Evolves Into |
Barbaracle at level 39 |
Type |
Rock/Water |
On the other side of the bridge where you caught your Magikarp, look for a Binacle hanging out on a small island. This Rock/Water-type Pokémon is susceptible to Fighting and Ground moves.
Employ sneak tactics or engage in battle to secure your Binacle. As a dual-type, it boasts strengths against Fire, Rock, and Ice, and when it evolves at level 39, it becomes a powerful physical attacker in your roster.
Missed Weedle? Snag a Kakuna

First Appearance |
Pokémon Red and Blue |
---|---|
Evolves Into |
Beedrill at level 10 |
Type |
Bug/Poison |
If you skipped capturing Weedle in Wild Zone 1, don’t worry; you can still get Kakuna here. After securing Binacle, traverse back across the bridge and follow around the path. Kakuna can be easily spotted up in a tree, ready for capture.
As a Bug/Poison-type, Kakuna is strong against Grass, Dark, and Psychic Pokémon. It evolves into Beedrill at level 10, making it a visually appealing creature among Pokémon enthusiasts.
Congratulations! You’ve Caught a Patrat

First Appearance |
Pokémon Black and White |
---|---|
Evolves Into |
Watchog at level 20 |
Type |
Normal |
There are different strategies to catch Patrat. The simplest way is to throw a Poké Ball from the location where you nabbed Binacle, as Patrat is waiting on a small ledge to the left. Alternatively, uncover him from the staircase near Kakuna’s location.
Patrat is a Normal-type Pokémon, making it vulnerable to Fighting-type moves. Lucario or Pancham can easily defeat it. Normal-types offer versatile options in battle and enjoy immunity against Ghost-type attacks.
Starmie? No, Staryu!

First Appearance |
Pokémon Red and Blue |
---|---|
Evolves Into |
Starmie with Water Stone |
Type |
Water |
To encounter Staryu, you must wait for nighttime, as they spawn during the dark. Find a bench and rest until nightfall, then return to Wild Zone 2.
Staryu appears in multiple aquatic locations. Approach with caution and toss a Poké Ball when you’re ready to catch this powerful Water-type Pokémon. Staryu can be incredibly effective against Fire and Ground opponents. Moreover, you have the option to evolve it into Starmie using a Water Stone, available from the Stone Emporium or as a random drop in the city.
