Prepare your Greataxe and summon the Stelas! It’s time to engage in the thrilling Remembrance Quest for the fiercest Nightfarer in Elden Ring Nightreign. If you’re looking for an exciting challenge, this quest delivers intense action that sets it apart from the more emotionally driven narratives found elsewhere.
This quest may not tug on your heartstrings like some of its counterparts, but it will rigorously challenge your combat skills—an essential trial for any true warrior of the seas. Plus, the rewards at the end are incredibly beneficial, providing a significant power-up!
This guide aims to navigate you through the quest while also detailing how to collect the elusive memory fragments essential for your progress.
Memory Fragments

Before diving into the quest, it is crucial to understand how to collect the memory fragments. Surprisingly, you might find yourself spending more time gathering fragments than actually completing the quest. But fret not; the process is more straightforward than it appears!
To kick things off, you won’t need to complete an expedition to unlock Chapter 2 of the Raider.Simply defeating your first Nightlord suffices. Just play as this character for a brief period.
After advancing to Chapter 3, the real challenge begins. You must defeat any Nightlord while using the Raider, leading directly to Chapter 4. Following that, you must complete two additional expeditions, both as The Raider. In total, this means taking down three Nightlords as The Raider—though you may opt to defeat Gladius each time if preferred. The specific type of expedition doesn’t matter, as long as you achieve victory. The practice gained from these excursions will certainly aid in your final confrontation.
Chapter 2 – Stepping Into the Colosseum

After honing your skills as The Raider, head east of the Expedition chamber and consult the Journal to initiate the first Remembrance Quest.
If you’re ever confused about where to go during any remembrance quest, simply consult your map for the exclamation mark indicating the destination.
- Upon awakening, speak with the Iron Menial, who will inform you about an ancient tournament recorder at the stone.
- Approach the monument and interact with it to trigger a glowing effect.
- Engage in dialogue with the Iron Menial until he exhausts his lines.
- Touch the stone again to travel to the battleground; confirm with “yes” to prepare for battle.
- In this arena, you will face the Onestrike Gladiator. If you’ve played the original Elden Ring, this enemy should be familiar. Luckily, this encounter is quite manageable; the Gladiator’s slow attacks are easily telegraphed, and heavy strikes can stagger him frequently. A few retaliatory hits should see you victorious in no time.
- Post-victory, speak to the Iron Menial and present the Torn Braided Cord you’ve just obtained.
- You can attempt to touch the stone again, but there will be no new interaction.
- Once more, converse with the Iron Menial to conclude Chapter 2 of The Raider’s Remembrance Quest.
- Enter the spiral gateway to return to the Journal Room.

Upon completing this chapter, you will receive the Torn Braided Cord as a reward. This item serves as an equipable relic providing:
- A boost in attack power and stamina when damaged while utilizing Character Skills.
- Strength +3
This relic is particularly advantageous for those who frequently leverage the Retaliate Skill. Activating this skill while sustaining damage grants a power boost, which is beneficial during boss encounters. The added strength is certainly a plus!
Chapter 4 – With Tooth And Nail

At this stage, embark on a successful expedition with the Raider. Remember: Failing will yield no memory fragments, so prepare yourself well!
- As Chapter 4 opens, re-approach the Iron Menial.
- Interact with him to receive the Iron Menial’s Scrawl.
- Engage the Iron Menial again, causing the monument to glow.
- Choose “yes” to venture once more into the battlegrounds for your subsequent, more challenging confrontation.
- Here, you’ll face the Blinding Elder Lion, another notable foe from the original Elden Ring. This adversary is not only quicker but also more aggressive than the Gladiator. However, it too can be staggered frequently. Careful dodging is essential as it can swiftly deplete your health. Utilize Retaliate consistently for stance breaks and aim to activate the Totem Stela for an easier victory.
- Afterwards, converse with the Iron Menial, then pass through the spiral gateway to conclude this remembrance quest.
After finishing this section, you will be awarded The Raider’s Chalice, which is applicable at the Relic Rite Altar. This chalice offers utility if you possess relics matching its colors. Moreover, your Braided Cord relic can fit the final colorless slot, allowing for versatile relic use.
Chapter 7 – The Final Test

At this juncture, you may feel a bit lost.
To progress in the quest, you must take down two additional Nightlords with The Raider. I personally defeated Gladius for both encounters to collect my fragments. By this point, I had eliminated seven unique Nightlords, so aim to tackle as many distinct bosses as possible to secure your fragments.
Before entering this final battle, ensure you’re equipped with impressive relics. Anything that enhances your poise or strength will greatly aid you. Notably, your upcoming enemy is particularly vulnerable to fire and frostbite, so weapons with elemental buffs will be beneficial.
- After speaking with the Iron Menial, you might hear that the monument remains inactive.
- Touching the stone will show no results initially.
- Complete the dialogue with the Iron Menial, then consult your map.Scroll through the options to teleport directly to the shoreline. Run toward the exclamation mark to initiate the final showdown.
- This battle is, without a doubt, the most challenging of the three quests, as you’ll face two foes: The White Horn, who starts with dual weapons and is exceedingly aggressive—armed with your Retaliate Skill and capable of buffing himself with Endure, making him tougher to stagger. Master jumping attacks and dodging techniques for success.
- Once the White Horn is half-health, he undergoes a transformation into an Ulcerated Tree Spirit, a classic enemy known for its notorious attacks. Remain calm under pressure and employ Retaliate frequently for Stance Breaks. After achieving two Stance Breaks, he should fall.
- Finally, interact with the Iron Menial once more.
- Touch the monument to witness a record of your triumph.
- Converse with the Iron Menial for the last time.
- To finalize the Remembrance Quest, offer your garb and helmet at the stone to receive the Raider’s Remembrance Costume, granting you an appearance reminiscent of Godfrey, which adds a nice touch.
- Exit through the spiral gateway to return to the Journal Room.
Upon quest completion, you will be awarded a second valuable relic for the Raider: The Black Claw necklace. This necklace features:
- HP restored upon defeating enemies near Totem Stela.
- Increased Art gauge fill when enemies are defeated.
- Poise +3
Make sure to equip the necklace at the relic altar for a well-earned boost to your stats. Finding a harmonious combination of the Torn Braided Cord and the Necklace will yield the best results, allowing you to witness noticeable improvements in your next encounter.
While the storyline of this quest may lack the depth found in adventures like The Revenant, the combat engagements are undoubtedly the quest’s standout features. Instead of relying on team dynamics, this quest encourages you to fully harness your fighting prowess. No more depending on allies!
With the Remembrance Quest wrapped up, you can now continue your journey to triumph over the final, formidable Nightlord.
