The Two Point Museum introduces a new twist in the beloved Two Point series, immersing players in the role of a museum curator. Your primary objective is to build an extraordinary collection of artifacts while engaging and delighting visitors, managing your staff’s needs, and navigating a variety of challenges along the way.
As you expand your museum, you may encounter unforeseen difficulties, particularly with theft. Not all visitors have good intentions; some may seek to pilfer or vandalize your valuable exhibits. Fortunately, the game offers an array of security measures to safeguard your collection. In this guide, we’ll explore essential strategies for maintaining security within your museum.
Recruiting and Training Security Guards
The threat of theft arises once your museum reaches a star rating, signaling that it has drawn attention. At this juncture, it’s crucial to have at least one Security Guard on your team to start collecting donations. You can recruit Security Guards through the Hire Staff tab, identifiable by a security badge icon. When selecting candidates, look for key skills such as Aerodynamics and Strolling Surveillance, which can enhance their effectiveness.
Once hired, Security Guards automatically patrol the museum, ensuring they collect donations and prevent theft. Should you see a thief unchallenged, don’t hesitate to manually reposition guards to confront the criminals directly.
If a Security Guard apprehends a thief, any stolen items will be returned. However, if an exhibit is destroyed, you will need to source a replacement to maintain your collection.
Utilizing Security Rooms and Camera Systems
Beyond the roaming patrols, you can establish Security Chairs in significant areas of your museum for enhanced surveillance. Progressing through the game unlocks access to the Camera Room in the Rooms tab. To utilize this facility, ensure your guards undergo training in the Camera Room skill at the Training Library. Once qualified, guards can monitor museum activities directly from the Camera Room.
Remember, for effective surveillance, you must install cameras using the general Items tab, not from the Camera Room. These cameras offer a 180-degree view, allowing a few strategically placed cameras to cover vast areas. However, be aware that an overabundance of cameras might create a negative atmosphere, leading to discontent among guests. Furthermore, ensure that trained guards are present in the Camera Room for optimal camera function—these devices serve merely as deterrents when no trained personnel is available.
Engaging in the County Archives Curator Challenge will help you master the use of cameras and Security Chairs while awarding valuable security enhancements such as Security Supplies and the Security Camera Post.
A well-secured museum, equipped with advanced Camera Rooms and comprehensive coverage of key exhibits, will significantly increase your chances of receiving favorable inspection feedback from the Department of Culture. Successful inspections yield extra funding, making it beneficial to prepare thoroughly before the inspector arrives.
Identifying and Apprehending Thieves
Identifying thieves can be challenging in the bustling environment of your museum. If a criminal appears within a camera’s view, a notification will alert you, enabling swift action. Although Security Guards typically intervene upon spotting a thief, their success in apprehending them often hinges on possessing the Aerodynamics skill. There may also be instances where guards are occupied or oblivious to the crime occurring, so manually guiding guards closer to a criminal can be effective.
When your museum is targeted, an alert will pop up on the right side of your screen. To bolster defenses during these events, it’s advisable to have multiple Security Guards actively available.
Criminals come from different factions, each with their distinctive tactics and appearances. For example, the Golden Molers can infiltrate by burrowing from below, while Boggymen may emerge from restrooms. Upon capturing a thief, they will be escorted back to the museum entrance. Using the pickup tool during intense criminal offensives can streamline the process, as guards take longer to navigate back to their posts otherwise.
Implementing these strategies will ensure that your museum remains safe from thieves and vandals. With effective security measures in place, you may even receive a commendatory bonus grant from the Security Inspector, boosting your museum’s star rating.
