The quest involving Dr. Garrow in Atomfall extends over a considerable journey, demanding both time and patience to navigate successfully.
This intricate storyline includes liberating Dr. Garrow, collecting her research notes, operating the Signal Redirector, and completing additional tasks. Following this questline will lead players to an exclusive ending, rewarding their efforts with a unique narrative experience.
Unlocking Dr. Garrow’s Freedom
The journey to free Dr. Garrow commences when you first interact with her at Skethermoor Prison. Gaining access to the prison requires accepting Captain Sim’s proposal for her interrogation, which facilitates your entry.
Upon meeting Dr. Garrow in her confinement, she will implore your assistance for her escape, marking the official beginning of her storyline. However, before you undertake her rescue, it is wise to gather valuable intel for Captain Sims, which will aid your endeavors later.
Gathering information from Dr. Garrow before her escape is strategic; doing so ensures the soldiers remain oblivious to your plans when you assist her in fleeing.
To liberate Dr. Garrow, you must locate the Signal Redirector, which can be conveniently found in the Security room, indicated by a clear “Security”sign above the door. Look for the Signal Redirector on the shelf at the far end of this room.
With the Signal Redirector obtained, make your way to the Control Room located across from the Security room. Although the Control Room door is secured, you will find a crawlspace on the right, allowing you to bypass the locked entry.
Once inside the Control Room, utilize the Signal Redirector on the switch situated above the yellow generator to redirect power to the master control switch. Finally, activate the master control switch to unlock all prison cells, including Dr. Garrow’s.
As Dr. Garrow makes her escape through the neighboring Interchange door, she will secure it behind her, prompting the next step of your journey: locating her within the Interchange.
Locating Dr. Garrow in the Interchange
Dr. Garrow can be found in the Central Processor section of the Interchange. This central hub connects all Interchange doors, enabling you to enter from any of them.
Approach her in the Central Processor to discuss her recent escape. She will express gratitude and provide a method to navigate the quarantine; however, she requires your help with several additional tasks first.
Accessing the Robotics Area
To reach the Robotics sector, you can enter through either the Skethermoor or Slatten Dale Interchange doors. Regardless of the choice, you will need an Atomic Battery to place in the Data Store to unlock the access to the open area beneath the Central Processor.
There is a prominently displayed sign reading “ROBOTICS” above a yellow door, indicating your next destination.
Navigating to the Lower Level of Robotics
Along your exploration of Robotics, look for white signage guiding you toward the Lower Level. The path is relatively straightforward, even without the signs.
Before proceeding to the Lower Level, you must restore power to both the Left and Right Wings, which will enable access to the main door leading to this lower area.
Activating Power to the Right Wing
To activate the right wing’s power, enter the Robot Assembly area. Proceed to the back-left corner where you will find a window with a power switch on the opposite side.
Employ your Signal Redirector to channel power to the nearby door leading to the Wing Control switch.Engage the Wing Control lever and exit the room the same way you came in.
Next, take an immediate right, scale the brown box, and look left for another power switch on the wall. Use your Signal Redirector to direct power to the main door.
Activating Power to the Left Wing
Now, you must operate the Wing Control lever in the Power Control Beta room. However, gaining entry is required first.
Navigate to the Power Control Beta room and locate a power switch accessed through a window to the left of the door. Use your Signal Redirector to reroute power to allow entrance.
Once inside, activate the Wing Control lever situated in the far right corner of the Power Control Beta room.
After engaging the lever, electricity will surge across the ground in front of the door leading to the lower level.
Exit the Power Control Beta room, take a right, and ascend the stairs to avoid the electrical hazard. Here, you will find another switch for your Signal Redirector.
Finally, press the button in front of the Lower Level door to access this area.
Obtaining Dr. Garrow’s Research Notes
Within the lower level of Robotics, you are tasked with retrieving Dr. Garrow’s Research Notes from the Head Office. However, the door to this office is locked, necessitating the acquisition of the Head Office Keycard first.
Acquiring the Head Office Keycard
If you examine the deceased body at the entrance of the lower Robotics level, you will discover a note indicating that the Head Office Keycard resides in the Weapons Testing section. The note states that Weapons Testing is currently offline and that you need to activate three terminals to regain access.
The three terminals are designated A, B, and C and are scattered across the west, north, and east regions of the area. Remember, all buttons must be pressed quickly to successfully restart Weapons Testing.
Given the urgency, it is advisable to eliminate any robotic patrols in the vicinity beforehand, as they can interfere with your efforts. Utilizing a shotgun and Molotov cocktails has proven effective in dispatching them.
Once Weapons Testing is operational, you will find the Head Office Keycard adjacent to the deceased body. After collecting it, head upstairs to the Head Office.
Executing the ERA Command at the Dam Data Store
Upon returning with Dr. Garrow’s notes, she will request a visit to the Dam Data Store at Casterfell Dam to run a voice command. Fortunately, the location is marked on your map for convenience.
Upon entering the Dam Data Store, be prepared to confront a patrolling robot. As you’ll face another Signal Redirector challenge here, it’s advisable to neutralize the robot to avoid complications.
Activating the Dam Data Store
Before processing the voice command for Dr. Garrow, we must restore power in the Dam Data Store. Follow these steps carefully:
- Enter the room with the red light above the door.
- Use the Signal Redirector on the power switch inside this room.
- Activate the Signal Redirector on the power switch located beneath the turret.
- Climb the nearby brown box to reach the switch on the ceiling using the Signal Redirector.
- Approach the Control Room door and use your Signal Redirector on the switch to gain entry.
- Finally, utilize the Dam Data Store Keycard to turn on the power.
After completing these steps, you can now interact with the Data Interface Console situated in the room’s center.
Before submitting the GEN ERA command, you might want to access recent data, providing insights into various lore elements within Atomfall, including Oberon, the Interchange, and the quarantine.
Once you feel prepared, input the GEN ERA Command to proceed to the final stages of Dr. Garrow’s questline.
Extracting an Oberon Sample for Dr. Garrow
Upon your return to Dr. Garrow, she will request one last task — to extract a sample of Oberon. Accessing this sample requires that power be activated at all Data Stores and at the Central Processor.
Once you arrive at Oberon and reach ground zero, you will see the purple crystal; the mining infrastructure will be positioned to your left.
Engage with the mining setup to collect your Oberon sample, then return to Dr. Garrow to fulfill the quest. Completing this task will culminate in a unique ending for Atomfall.
