The Lion’s Den serves as a pivotal main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, focusing on the protagonist’s mission to infiltrate Sigismund’s camp in Prague and steal a formidable weapon known as The Finger of God. This cannon plays a critical role in the larger narrative, aimed at defeating Maleshov and eliminating Lord Von Bergow.
However, the journey to obtain this artillery is fraught with challenges. To inch closer to his objective, Henry must navigate various tasks, including enlistment, investigating suspects, and unraveling a murder mystery. Below is a detailed overview of how to navigate these challenges and successfully complete the quest.
Formulating a Strategy with Zizka and Allies

Following the ambush that occurs in the Jewish Quarter during the Exodus quest, Henry must locate Zizka at the Devil’s Den to lay the groundwork for their next move. Upon arrival, it is crucial to engage with Zizka and assemble allies to devise a plan.
The main objective is clear: seize the cannon located in Sigismund’s camp to facilitate the demise of Maleshov. However, with the cannon schedule in flux, Zizka believes that ambushing it will require precise timing. Thus, Henry’s immediate task is to gain entry into Sigismund’s Prague forces to glean the cannon’s relocation timeline.
Enlisting in the Prague Regiment
Head to Sigismund’s camp and locate Katherine at the bathhouses to discuss the strategy for enlisting. Despite her reservations, Katherine will recommend that you speak with Stephen Crow, a soldier within the regiment, as he can assist in your enlistment.
Timing is essential; ensure you visit Crow in the afternoon—specifically around 12 o’clock—since he will be unreachable at other times. Once the hour is right, navigate to the shooting range to approach him about joining the regiment.
In order to persuade Crow, you will need to navigate dialogue checks successfully by selecting options that capitalize on Henry’s strongest conversational skills. After enough convincing dialogue, he will grant permission to enlist, contingent upon speaking with the Commander.
Upon consultation with the Commander, you will be tasked with retrieving a special document that has gone missing along with a group of soldiers who have yet to return to camp.
Locating the Document for Commander Kratz
Your first step in solving this mystery requires you to consult Myshek at the infirmary. Unfortunately, Myshek is in an unconscious state and can’t provide useful information. However, Musa, who oversees the infirmary, hints that Myshek muttered “Old Lhota”before losing consciousness, pointing you toward the old town.
Travel to Old Lhota, shown on the southern side of the Kuttenberg map, where you will encounter a sawmill housing seven soldiers. You may choose to engage them stealthily or confront them directly. However, stealth might prove challenging compared to open combat.
Regardless of your method, ensure to retrieve the “key to the painted chest”from the soldier in a white shirt. This key unlocks the painted chest located upstairs, containing the “Lost Charter for King Sigismund.”
Once you secure the Lost Charter, return to Commander Kratz to present it. A cutscene will unfold, highlighting a celebratory drink that quickly shifts to chaos as news arrives of an assassination attempt on Commander Chertan of the Cumans.
Examining the Crime Scene
Henry, alongside Katz and Musa, swiftly heads to the scene where Chertan lies gravely wounded. While he is transported to the infirmary, it falls upon Henry to carry out an investigation.
Start by analyzing the blood on the ground and the trough situated to the north. After conducting a thorough examination of these areas, return to Commander Kratz to report your findings.
Upon relaying the information, Kratz decides to check on Chertan, but tragically, he is pronounced dead upon arrival. It is revealed that not the stab wounds but rather poison in the wine given by Musa was the cause of death.
Grozav of Borumlaca accuses Musa of deliberately poisoning the wine. However, both Kratz and Henry defend Musa, asserting his innocence. Now, it is up to Henry to uncover the true assassin to save Musa from a fatal sentence.
Identifying the Actual Murderer

The investigation begins with a conversation with Musa, who last interacted with Chertan. Given his confinement, you must sneak past the guards to reach him undetected.
You can distract the guard with either Katherine’s assistance—if you have completed her side quest “The Stalker”—or by throwing a pebble to divert his attention. Both methods lay the groundwork for gathering crucial information.
From Musa, Henry learns that examining Chertan’s body and consulting a “book of poisons”are the key steps to discovering the truth. It’s essential to cross-reference the symptoms observed in Chertan with the contents of the poisons manual.
Obtaining the Book of Poisons

The Book of Poisons is located within a locked chest in the infirmary, conveniently beside Chertan’s body. The chest is categorized as “easy”to pick, allowing you to retrieve the book with little effort.
Conducting a Body Examination

Adjacent to the lockbox containing the Book of Poisons is Chertan’s corpse. Approach and interact with the body to initiate your examination.
Be thorough in your investigation; check every body part—legs, arms, head, etc. This meticulous scrutiny will unveil that Chertan experienced spasms before his demise, a vital clue in determining the poison involved in his death.
Analyzing the Poison that Killed Chertan

Armed with knowledge of Chertan’s symptoms, particularly the spasms, you can now delve into the Book of Poisons to identify the culprit.
Locate the entry for “Kiss of Death, ”where you will learn that this particular toxin results in spasms, establishing it as the poison responsible for Chertan’s fate.
Once this conclusion is reached, report your findings to Musa, indicating that the Kiss of Death was the lethal agent used against Chertan. Musa will then instruct you to scrutinize the suspects’ tents in Sigismund’s camp for ingredients linked to the poison.
Searching the Suspects’ Tents
To identify the murderer, you need to investigate four tents corresponding to key suspects: Stephen Crow, Grozav, Musa, and the tent shared by Adalbert and Radovan.
As you explore these locations, take note of the items found in each tent:
- Stephen Crow’s tent: Wood, Nails, Rose Water
- Grozav’s tent: Herbs
- Musa’s Tent: Potions, Vessel
- Adalbert and Radovan’s Tent: Broom, Bed
After a comprehensive investigation, Henry deduces that Stephen Crow authored the Kiss of Death poison, as the key ingredients—wood, nails, and rose water—match perfectly.
Finalizing Musa’s Trial

The next step involves saving Musa from a death sentence through solid evidence. If you don’t see the trial waypoint, you may need to wait a few in-game hours until it activates.
During the trial, selecting the appropriate dialogue options is crucial to ensuring a favorable outcome. You can afford to get three choices wrong before facing a game over.
Here are the key dialogue options that proved successful:
- “Musa is innocent!”
- “He was with us at the time of the stabbing.”
- “Corporal Stephen Crow.”
- “Crow poisoned the wine when Musa wasn’t looking.”
- “You brewed a poison called Kiss of Death.”
Following these selections, the council will ultimately accuse Crow of Chertan’s murder. In a fit of rage, Crow retaliates, allowing Henry to engage him in combat. A few well-placed strikes will suffice to defeat him.
With the true killer eliminated, Kratz agrees that it’s imperative to leave Sigismund’s camp. It’s time to move The Finger of God.
Return to Katherine to inform her that the cannon move is imminent, allowing her to alert Zizka to prepare for the ambush. Then, meet up with Kratz and confirm that you are ready to head to Sedletz.
As you make your way to Sedletz, Zizka and your allies will execute the ambush on the convoy. Defeat the enemy soldiers to conclude the quest The Lion’s Den in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
