
Split Fiction is an engaging cooperative puzzle-adventure game that emphasizes teamwork and creative problem-solving. Players must communicate effectively to navigate through complex puzzles, as the game provides limited hints, urging them to explore and experiment to succeed.
As Mio confronts her inner struggles, players observe Rader becoming increasingly impatient, pushing the narrative further. In Level 7, known as The Hollow, the experience may be smaller in scale compared to previous chapters, yet it presents intricate puzzles and compelling storytelling. With the absence of hints, effective coordination between players becomes essential. Below is a comprehensive step-by-step guide for navigating Level 7.
An Ominous Welcome

Upon taking control, players should explore the dilapidated ruins. Move forward to activate a cutscene where Zoe discovers her powers. She can now aim the spectral fish at flat surfaces using R2/RT and pull structures by holding L2/LT. Utilize Zoe’s abilities to unlock a gate, which leads to another cutscene featuring Mio’s spectral owl, capable of connecting with glowing discs to reveal paths.
As Mio holds L2/LT, both players must cross the gap together; otherwise, the path will dissipate, leading to a fall.


Advance to another disc, illuminating it to access a small area containing a chandelier. Here, Zoe must pull and release the chandelier to gain momentum and reach the opposite side. Both characters play essential roles: Zoe pulls down the disc while Mio illuminates it, before Zoe releases it to elevate the platform.
For the moving disc puzzle, pull the disc to the far right and illuminate it quickly to make a dash across. Near the upcoming door, both players will need to operate the chains on either side to unlock it, leading to a cutscene that reveals further insights into Zoe’s memories.
Mosaic of Memories



Following the cutscene, ascend the staircase and veer left, utilizing Zoe’s powers to illuminate the disc and pull it to raise the following platform. Proceed through the doorway and jump across the glowing platforms to transition to the next area. Take the linear path, climb the chandelier chain, and continue upward.




Next, Mio must illuminate the disc while Zoe pulls a moving wall, creating a “path of sunshine, ”as described by Mio. Here, players can find the final bench, which unlocks the Sisters: A Tale of Two Besties Trophy/Achievement. Continue onward to locate another disc and a wheel below that raises or lowers a chain. Follow these instructions:
- Position a vortex at the wheel’s base to lower the disc.
- Illuminate the disc and maintain illumination until reaching the top.
- Add a vortex at the top of the wheel to rotate it and raise the chain.
- Place a vortex on either side of the statue head and draw them together.
- Release the vortex to access the chain and grasp it.
- Illuminate the disc again to traverse to the opposite side.


After this operation, open the door and swing across to the next area, where a light beam puzzle awaits. Illuminate the disc, then place a vortex on the ground to pull it closer before leaping onto the beam of light. This leads into the tower, where additional puzzles are present. Follow these steps:
- Illuminate the disc and shift it to the right.
- Jump onto the light beam to access the left-side area.
- Pull the disc to the right and leap onto the beam again.
- Remove the vortex to elevate the platform and continue.
- In the succeeding room, keep the disc illuminated and position a vortex on the right.
- Walk along the light beam until nearing the disc.
- Add a vortex on the opposite side to shift the disc and climb higher.


After completing the wall-climbing section, illuminate the disc to manifest glowing orbs that serve as stepping stones. Once at the door, pull the disc to open it and descend the staircase, which triggers a collapse, dropping the player onto a chandelier and initiating the next sub-level, known as Ghost Town.
Ghost Town


In the initial section of this sub-level, players ride the chandelier, manipulating it by shifting to either side. Watch out for multiple hydra heads that will attack; quick reflexes are necessary to dodge them. As you reach the large water body, one player should assist in maneuvering the chandelier using Zoe’s Vortex while the other deals with spectral enemies.


When you arrive at the gate, one player must grab the chain on the side to climb and unlock it, enabling Zoe to pull the chandelier through. Continue onward, where several discs hover above statues that Mio can rotate, creating platforms for Zoe. Upon reaching the metal wheel, both players can dismount from the left side and head to the rooftop. From here, pull the disc down, illuminate it to rotate the wheel twice, then release to establish a pathway for the chandelier. Continue down the linear path leading to a crossbow; interact with it to drop two chandeliers and then grapple across.

In the next phase, evade roaming phantoms and make your way to the catapult. Pull it down and release to catapult yourself upward, then illuminate the disc to form a platform. Proceed along the main route until you spot a bell submerged in water; pull it up to make your way across to the other side.
Light in the Dark



Upon reaching a bell that functions as a hammer, you can pull it back using three flat surfaces.Avoid the middle one and place your Vortex on either side to draw the disc toward the chain, and illuminate it to break it. Repeat this process for the second chain to lower the bridge. Proceed through the narrow corridor and follow these steps:
- Illuminate the first disc and allow Zoe to wall-climb to the opposite side.
- Light up the second disc, enabling Zoe to walk across to the chain and lower the gate for Mio.
- Advance further while Mio illuminates the discs, triggering a worm-like creature to emerge, allowing passage for both players.
- Utilize Mio’s powers to progress forward and reach the distant red gate.
Snake Door Puzzle


Next, you’ll encounter a door adorned with a snake design, where the center sections are misaligned. To open it, both players need to rotate the circles until they align correctly. Position a Vortex on either flat surface to initiate the circle’s movement. Mio should illuminate the circle to assist in rotation. Once the center circle is properly tied without intersecting the other knot, stop using Mio’s abilities and let Zoe take over. Adjust the circles to form a swirling snake shape, opening the door to the stairs leading to a petrified creature. Deploy a Vortex, form the disc, and illuminate it to activate a cutscene.
Spiritual Guides



Once the cutscene concludes, you will control the Spiritual Guides, moving together in a centipede formation. Direct your attention to the temple, where a platform holds four chains that need cutting with R2/RT. Drop down and grasp the hook at the bottom of the gate, pulling it back to open it. Proceed down a path with lava cascading from above, requiring careful movement to avoid it.


Given that the players are connected, proximity is crucial; otherwise, the lava will deal damage.


At the conclusion of this section, players will land on separate sides, needing to evade lava geysers. Climb along the walls to reach the moving platforms, requiring teamwork. Follow these steps:
- The player on the right waits while the left player steps onto the platform.
- As the platform shifts to the right, the second player should follow suit.
- The first player disembarks first, allowing the second player to do the same.





In this next puzzle, utilize grappling hooks to propel forward while avoiding flames. Timing is key; the player must release at the ideal moment and proceed to the next hook. There are numerous wheels; failing will result in starting over. After this section is cleared, approach the door which triggers a cutscene, indicating the start of the final sub-level of this chapter.
The Hydra




During the boss encounter, players must navigate towards each other while carefully avoiding the Hydra’s attacks. Once in close proximity, hold R2/RT to tether the spectral animals and soar toward the Hydra’s head to sever it. Following this, players will be separated and must repeat the process while overcoming new obstacles and platforms. After successfully severing the second head, Zoe will lose her medallion and needs to cross the water towards the crossbow. Engage with it to bring down the third head, then proceed to the illuminated disc to access another crossbow to eliminate the fourth.
For the final attack, players must steer clear of falling projectiles and navigate towards the catapult. Position a vortex beneath it, ascend on top, and release to access the last crossbow. Shoot the bolt to disable the final head.




All heads will regenerate, leading players to slide into the mouth of the Hydra, evading orange projectiles. Pull the chandelier to advance deeper into its body, and as you approach the heart, jump over shockwaves.
At this point, Mio must transport her light to Zoe, ensuring Zoe remains within close proximity to avoid death.
Climb carefully, one platform at a time, while maintaining closeness to reach the medallion. Utilize Zoe’s powers to reconstruct the statue, illuminate the bow, and release the arrow to strike the heart, culminating in the final cutscene of this level. Following this event, players will transition to Level 8, titled Split.
