After more than twenty years since its original launch, the upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake is shaping up to be an exciting entry in the horror survival genre. Developed through a collaboration between Konami and Bloober Team, the game aims to meet high player expectations. Players can look forward to enhanced graphics and refined gameplay, among other improvements. Recently, Konami announced the addition of 156 new tracks to Akira Yamaoka’s iconic soundtrack from the original game.

Unveiling the Voice Talent of Silent Hill 2 Remake

1) James Sunderland – Luke Roberts (English), Chikahiro Kobayashi (Japanese)

Luke Roberts, a British actor recognized for his roles in acclaimed series like Game of Thrones and Ransom, steps into the gaming world with this significant casting. He has a background in video game voice acting from titles such as Outcast: A New Beginning and Risen 2, but this will be his most substantial role to date, voicing the central character, James Sunderland.

For the Japanese audience, Chikahiro Kobayashi takes on the role of James. Kobayashi has lent his voice to characters in games like Cyberpunk 2077 (Male V) and Final Fantasy 7 Remake (Butch).

2) Angela – Gianna Kiehl (English), Risa Shimizu (Japanese)

Emerging talent Gianna Kiehl, a theater performer since childhood, will make her video game voice acting debut in Silent Hill 2 Remake. She has prior experience as a voice actor in podcast series such as Takeover and Young Blood.

In the Japanese version, Angela’s voice is provided by Risa Shimizu who has an impressive portfolio, including roles in Cyberpunk 2077 (Female V), Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (Kassandra), and Need for Speed Unbound (Tess).

3) Mary/Maria – Salome Gunnarsdottir (English), Shizuka Ito (Japanese)

From Iceland, Salome Gunnarsdottir brings considerable experience to her role. She has participated in the Justice League film series and voiced characters in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Dawn of Ragnarok, alongside notable roles in Final Fantasy XIV as Lyna and Athena. In the Remake, she provides the voice for Mary, James Sunderland’s deceased wife.

In the Japanese version, the character of Mary is voiced by Shizuka Ito, who boasts an extensive video game resume with roles in over 129 titles, including renowned JRPGs like Monster Hunter Rise (Minoto) and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (Divine Child of Rejuvenation).

4) Laura – Evie Templeton (English), Sumire Morohoshi (Japanese)

The role of Laura is brought to life by 15-year-old British actress Evie Templeton, who began her career at age ten and has appeared in films such as Lord of Misrule and Les Miserables.

Japanese audiences will hear Sumire Morohoshi voicing Laura. Besides acting, she is also a professional singer and has voiced characters in major games like Metaphor ReFantazio (Gallica) and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (Young Eveline).

5) Eddie – Scott Haining / Danny Kirrane (English), Toru Nara (Japanese)

Eddie will be voiced by two English actors, Scott Haining and Danny Kirrane. Haining has previous voice credit in the 2020 game The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope (David), while Kirrane has an extensive background in both film and television, featuring in projects like Pirates of the Caribbean and Game of Thrones.

For the character’s Japanese dub, Toru Nara voices Eddie. Nara’s contributions to the gaming industry include roles in major titles such as God of War: Ragnarok (Raeb) and The Last of Us Part 2 (Seraphites), alongside various films and animated series.

The highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake is scheduled for global release on October 8, 2024, and will be available on modern platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
