Complete List of iPhone Models Ineligible for iOS 19 Update This Year

With the upcoming release of iOS 19, Apple is poised to deliver one of its most significant updates in recent memory. However, this means that a number of older iPhone models will no longer be supported. Analyst Mark Gurman has indicated that iOS 19 will bring not only enhancements to functionality but also an extensive redesign of the user interface.

Supported iPhone and iPad Models for iOS 19 and iPadOS 19

Apple has officially announced its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, set for June 9. During this event, the tech giant will unveil not only iOS 19 but also iPadOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, visionOS 3, and tvOS 19. Speculations suggest that the design of the new operating systems may draw inspiration from visionOS, featuring a sleek, glass-like aesthetic that enhances user interaction.

Recently, a credible source on X revealed a list of iPhone models that will not receive the iOS 19 update. Given the track record of this leaker in providing accurate information about device compatibility, their insights are worth noting. Below is the list of iPhones that will not support iOS 19:

  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max

All devices listed above are powered by the A12 Bionic chip, indicating that iOS 19 is officially ending support for all devices utilizing this chipset.

In contrast, the following models will be compatible with iOS 19:

  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone 15 Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro

  • iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13

It’s important to note that although many of these iPhone models will be compatible with iOS 19, only the higher-tier versions will have access to advanced features, including enhancements related to Apple Intelligence. Moreover, the highly anticipated Personalized Siri feature has been postponed until next year. Consequently, these AI enhancements will exclusively benefit the iPhone 15 Pro models, as well as the entire iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 series, including the newly introduced iPhone 16e.

Regarding iPadOS 19, models featuring the A12 Bionic chip, such as the iPad mini 5, will receive the update. Notably, the iPad 7, which is equipped with the A10 Fusion chip, will miss out on the upgrade.
