Navigating B2:

Upon descending from B1, you will emerge on B2. This level features directional tiles in the central area, requiring precise movement to reach the exit located directly opposite the entrance.

Mastering the Directional Tiles:

The directional tiles found here can be perplexing. They exhibit an intentional chaos, but learning their mechanics is key.

For those struggling with these tiles, revisiting the Tower of Rubiss for practice could be beneficial. In the northwest corner of the tower’s third floor, practice tiles await to hone your skills.

The tiles will always feature a diamond shape oriented east and west. Pay close attention to the colored halves, as they indicate movement:

  • Blue = North – Move based on the position of the blue half. If left, press left to move north; if right, press right for north.
  • Orange = South – Similarly, if orange is left, press left for south; if right, press right.

For East or West movements, focus solely on the orange arrow. If it points toward your desired direction, press UP on the D-Pad, and conversely, if it points away, press down.

DQ3R-Friday-Citadel-Friday

Reaching the final section of Zoma’s Citadel marks the beginning of an intense boss gauntlet. Players must first overcome the King Hydra, followed by the Soul of Baramos, and the Bones of Baramos before finally confronting Zoma. Fortunately, you have the opportunity to utilize items from your inventory between each boss encounter.

Defeating the King Hydra:

The King Hydra presents a challenge commensurate with a low-level main boss. Although no critical damage weaknesses were identified, the Kazap spell inflicts over 400 points of damage each turn. Adopting an aggressive approach is advisable, as the King Hydra heals just beyond 100 HP after each round.

Following a basic boss strategy allowed us to conquer the King Hydra without losses. Having one out of two sages act as a dedicated healer proved beneficial. You can apply any strategies previously successful against formidable bosses here.

Defeating the Soul of Baramos:

Having encountered the Soul of Baramos in the Tower of Rubiss previously, you should be familiar with its patterns. Zap damage will prove particularly effective against this enemy, therefore assign the Hero to cast Kazap.

Defeating the Bones of Baramos:

The Bones of Baramos exhibit similar vulnerabilities to its fleshy counterpart. Utilizing the Kazap spell allowed us to swiftly eliminate it; however, the bones assault much harder than the Soul of Baramos. Keep a vigilant eye on your party’s health as you fight through this challenging encounter.

Final Showdown Against Zoma:

DQ3R-Zoma-Citadel-Sphere-of-Light

As the concluding adversary of the main story, Zoma boasts formidable strength. Many players err by adopting a reckless, aggressive strategy. Zoma’s combat is strategic; it’s essential that all four party members endure.

At the battle’s onset, we recommend conserving your MP. Zoma activates a magic barrier that mitigates magic attack effectiveness. You will receive a prompt indicating that the Sphere of Light is ready. When prompted, confirm to remove Zoma’s barrier, rendering it vulnerable to magic assaults.

DQ3R-Friday-Citadel-Friday-Weakness

Once the barrier is down, Zoma becomes susceptible to Zap attacks, with our Kazap inflicting over 650 damage each time. Utilizing the Kazap spell coupled with the Monster Wrangler allows two party members to focus on healing and reviving. Expect to revive party members multiple times during this fight. Implementing buffs, debuffs, and reflections will greatly aid your efforts here.

The essence of victory lies in methodical strategy; prioritize maintaining HP without falling into aggressive tendencies. Ultimately, by adhering to these guidelines, you will emerge victorious.
