Once you achieve level 15 in Escape From Tarkov, you might think your struggles with the chaos of Ground Zero are behind you. However, Mechanic, the elite gunsmith, insists that you have more to endure, sending you back into the fray for the Shady Contractor quest.
This quest becomes available only after you’ve completed the “Saving The Mole”task, which also occurs in the chaotic landscape of Ground Zero. It begins your deeper dive into the mysteries surrounding TerraGroup, which, according to the enigmatic Sergey Arsenyevich, are intertwined with OOO Knossos—a contractor known for family entertainment venues such as amusement parks and playgrounds.
Locating the Knossos Manager Vehicle in Ground Zero
“Just locate the car and grab the necessary documents, ” suggests Mechanic, in a tone that belies the complexity of your mission. The instructions provided are notably vague, highlighting how Mechanic remains oblivious to the ongoing turmoil in the Norvinsk region.
The Ground Zero map features an extensive array of over a hundred vehicles scattered throughout its streets, underground sections, and the infamous TerraGroup garage. Attempting to find the right car through sheer guesswork is unlikely to yield results; you will either run out of time during your raid or fall prey to enemy fire.
Your target is situated along Norvinskaya Street on the southern end of the map. Specifically, it can be found just past the curve toward the Nakatani extract, nestled between the Fusion, Empire, and Capital Insight buildings.
To effectively pinpoint the vehicle, keep an eye out for an ambulance positioned in the center of the road. The car itself—a makeshift BMW—rests near the M auto showcase, notorious for being in a perilous area where retrieving quest items can be problematic. Snipers take advantage of the vantage point on the second floor of Capital Insight, posing a constant threat.
If you’re approaching from the Nakatami extraction point, expect to sprint through the open without much cover, making it a risky endeavor. Conversely, approaching from the north provides better concealment, especially if you can spawn at the Emercom location. Staying close to the right side will grant you adequate protection as you navigate through the Skyside and Fusion buildings, which provide additional paths to the underground area densely populated with vehicles for cover.
When you surface, you can further reduce your visibility to snipers by crossing the small parking area behind the M showcase and accessing the car from the north side.
Upon reaching the abandoned black BMW, approach the driver’s side. Here, you’ll discover a folder containing the essential OOO Knossos documents. Once acquired, make your escape to the extraction point and deliver the documents to Mechanic to successfully complete the Shady Contractor quest.
