Initiating the Art of Fighting Quest
To commence Ars Dimicatoria, navigate to the bustling trading district of Kuttenberg. Here, you’ll meet a vibrant figure donned in green and red, eagerly issuing challenges.
Meet Menhard von Frankfurt, who wishes to duel Henry—not for blood but for reputation. To accept this contest, you must heed his request to remove your armor and, importantly, have a minimum of 200 groschen for your wager. When you’re prepared, the duel begins.
Be aware that Menhard is a formidable opponent. As with many of Kingdom Come’s toughest encounters, mastering the art of Master Strikes is crucial for victory.
Just as you near victory, city officials will intervene, accusing Menhard of conducting unlawful duels, despite possessing a writ from King Wenceslas.
This marks your first pivotal decision. Successfully persuading the guards that Menhard is either a friend of Wenceslas or has not breached any laws will allow the quest to progress.
Pathway to Improved Standing
Acquiring the Guild Sword
Following the resolution of the dispute, Menhard will either retreat to an inn located to the west of the city or remain at the Emperor Charles Tavern inside Kuttenberg, depending on your earlier interaction.
When you locate him, he will share his story and request Henry to steal the Guild Sword from the Kuttenberg Brotherhood, intending to display it in the Town Hall as a challenge.
The Guild Hall, featuring distinctive red and yellow flags, is located in the southwest section of the city. If you attempt entry during the day, consider using the side door for a stealthy approach, provided you avoid detection.
The Guild Sword will be found displayed on the second floor, mounted on the wall in the main hall.Depending on your stealth capabilities, retrieving the sword at night could be easier due to fewer witnesses. However, be ready to don dark clothing and tackle tricky locks that remain accessible during daytime.
Exhibiting the Sword in the Town Hall
After securing the Guild Sword, transport it to Kuttenberg’s Town Hall, situated conveniently near the city center. If you are not engaging in Hardcore mode, quick travel can expedite your journey.
Upon entering, locate the pegs on the wall, where you must place the sword.After positioning the sword, return to Menhard to continue the quest.
If a guard is present near the entrance, simply wait; he will eventually leave his post, giving you a prime opportunity to place the sword covertly.
Dueling for Glory
Upon returning to Menhard, you’ll witness a cutscene showcasing the Kuttenberg Brotherhood discovering their pilfered sword.
In reaction, they challenge Menhard’s Brotherhood to a tournament, aiming to decide which group will lead Kuttenberg’s swordfighting community.
If you triumphed over Menhard in your initial duel, he will welcome Henry into his brotherhood right away. Otherwise, a rematch will be necessary for you to secure your place.
After this cutscene, you may need to wait between 24-48 hours before Menhard initiates the tournament.
The Kuttenberg tournament mirrors the Rattay Tourney from the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
You must secure victories in two out of three duels. Unlike Rattay, these matches are fought without armor, and between your duels, you can observe other fights. During these intervals, you can consume potions, repair your gear, or visit the bathhouse—just make sure to return in time for your subsequent duel.
If you were caught sneaking in the Kuttenberg Brotherhood’s guild hall, remember that the Kuttenberg fighters will be permitted to wear light armor for a slight edge in the tournament.
When it’s time for Henry’s duel, position yourself in the yellow corner to initiate the clash.Your final opponent, Master Nicholas, is formidable beyond compare. His skills in countering and executing Master Strikes call for prudence, making counterattacks a prudent strategy.
After three in-game days, revisit Menhard once he assumes control of the Kuttenberg Brotherhood.
As a reward, you gain permanent access to the guild hall, advanced combat instruction from both Menhard and Arne, and the prestigious Master Menhard’s longsword. Additionally, this unlocks weekly swordfighting tournaments, providing further opportunities to earn valuable rewards and hone your combat skills in the future.
