The latest Fisch Second Sea update introduces a wealth of new aquatic adventures, allowing players to explore the expansive Open Ocean. This update features nearly two dozen unique fish species, each waiting to be discovered. Comprehensive Open Ocean Bestiary in Fisch
To embark on this new maritime quest, players must first conquer the Cthulhu boss, which can be found on Terrapin Island after engaging with the Sea Traveler NPC. Upon defeating this formidable foe, you will be transported to Waveborne Island, reminiscent of Moosewood from the first sea.
From here, spawning your fishing boat is straightforward at the Shipwright, allowing you to venture into the depths of the Open Ocean. Fishing in the expansive waters—far from the islands—grants access to the unique varieties included in the Open Ocean Bestiary.
Within this vast environment, you can expect to encounter 22 fish species, which encompass two Secrets, two Exotics, and three Mythicals. However, do note that the elusive Dogefin fish remains currently inaccessible due to an ongoing bug. Below is the full list of fish and their respective attributes:

Essential Tips and Strategies for the Open Ocean Bestiary
The Open Ocean is home to formidable fish that possess notable agility while being reeled in. To tackle these challenges effectively, it’s crucial to select high-quality rods. The following strategies will enhance your fishing experience:
1. Optimal Rod Selection for the Open Ocean
Given the significant negative progress speed impacts encountered in the Second Sea, I strongly recommend utilizing rods with high resilience. It’s best to use rods from the First Sea, as Second Sea rods currently lack favorable stats.
The Ethereal Prism Rod and the Rod of the Forgotten Fang emerge as excellent choices due to their balanced stats and the latter’s unique passive ability to attract higher-tier fish.
2. Recommended Enchantments for Open Ocean
When selecting enchantments, I advise choosing either the Mystical or Resilient enchantments for your rods, or opting for the Quality enchant.
The balanced nature of these rods makes the Quality enchant particularly beneficial, boosting their overall effectiveness by 10-15%.Moreover, the Mystical enchant compensates for the 50% debuff impacting all First Sea rods. For further guidance, consult the comprehensive list of Fisch enchantments available.
3. Top Bait Choices for the Open Ocean Bestiary
Focus on using baits that enhance Lure Speed and Resilience. Options like Coral, Seaweed, or Deep Coral are particularly appropriate. While acquiring Second Sea baits might be tricky at present, they’re generally more effective when available.
4. Ideal Rod, Bait, and Enchant Combinations for Open Ocean
Experiment with different combinations of rods, baits, and enchants to discover what works best for you. Personally, I found that the combination of the Rod of the Forgotten Fang, Mystical enchant, and Coral baits exceptionally fruitful in quickly catching an array of fish in the Open Ocean.
