Complete Guide to Marvel Rivals Currencies Explained

Marvel Rivals offers an immersive experience without any upfront cost, allowing players to enjoy extensive gameplay without having to spend money. This hero shooter provides a quality gaming experience akin to AAA titles, making it accessible to a wide range of gamers.

As you progress through Marvel Rivals, you’ll begin to collect various forms of in-game currency. Each type of currency has its specific sources and uses, contributing to your overall experience and leading to valuable rewards throughout the game.

Before diving into your currency stash, it’s essential to understand the different currencies available, how to earn them, and what you can purchase with them. We’ll explore these aspects in detail below.

An Overview of Currency Types in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals Currency Overview

Currently, there are three primary types of currency in Marvel Rivals:

  • Lattice
  • Units
  • Chrono Tokens

Each currency type is acquired through different methods and plays a unique role in enhancing your gameplay. While two of these currencies can be earned through gameplay and challenges, the third is mainly linked to microtransactions.

Understanding Lattice

Lattice Currency

Lattice is a premium currency in Marvel Rivals, primarily acquired using real money. Similar to V-Bucks in Fortnite or COD Points in Call of Duty, Lattice is represented by a gold coin icon in the game.

The smallest purchasable amount is 100 Lattice, usually priced at about $1, with higher quantities available in bundles ranging from 1,000 to 11,680. Lattice is chiefly used to purchase seasonal Battle Passes, which could evolve in the future as developers plan to allow players to earn Lattice through these passes.

To buy Lattice, simply click the gold coin icon located at the top-right corner of your screen, where you can select the quantity you wish to purchase.

Exploring Units

Units Currency

Units serve as the most utilized currency within Marvel Rivals, depicted by a blue coin icon. This currency is essential for acquiring cosmetic items and hero skins, with typical skin prices around 1,500 Units and cosmetic bundles exceeding 2,000 Units.

You can earn Units through various methods, primarily by completing Achievements. By accessing your profile from the main menu, navigating to the Achievements section enables you to see rewards—often 100 Units or similar currency—for completed tasks.

Additionally, Units can be acquired by completing Battle Pass tiers, events, and special promotions like the recent Winter Celebration event. While the Luxury Battle Pass offers maximum Unit rewards, free players can still collect some Units.

Notably, you can also convert Lattice into Units at a 1:1 ratio, allowing you to utilize purchased currency for in-game items without further spending on cosmetics.

All About Chrono Tokens

Chrono Tokens

Chrono Tokens represent another currency type, identified by a purple lightning coin icon in the Battle Pass tab. These tokens can be earned through gameplay and do not require actual money for acquisition, although their use is limited to unlocking Battle Pass tiers.

Each tier of the Battle Pass necessitates 200 Chrono Tokens for unlock. Players accumulate these tokens primarily through completing missions and achievements. You can find missions listed under the “Season” tab in the main menu, offering daily and weekly tasks to ensure a steady flow of the currency.

Similar to Units, you can convert Lattice into Chrono Tokens, offering another use for purchased currency. However, with sufficient gameplay, you can earn a significant number of Chrono Tokens daily, suggesting that spending Lattice on this currency isn’t typically worth the expense.

Beyond these primary currencies, Marvel Rivals may feature temporary currencies for specific events. For instance, during the Winter Celebration, players could earn Golden Frosts, which are exclusively for redeeming event-related rewards.
