UPDATE: We have refined this page by adding valuable details and streamlining information to assist you in successfully completing Iron Fist Alexander’s quest.
The Journey of Iron Fist Alexander in Elden Ring
The Elden Ring Alexander quest invites players to join the charismatic giant pot, Iron Fist Alexander, on an unforgettable adventure throughout The Lands Between. Your quest begins with Alexander in a rather vulnerable state, typically stuck in the ground whenever you encounter him for the first time.
Your initial meeting with Alexander happens in Stormhill, where your journey kicks off. However, as you continue to defeat bosses together, Iron Fist Alexander will relocate and appear in other significant areas, including Redmane Castle.
Completing Iron Fist Alexander’s Quest
Starting Alexander’s quest can occur in a variety of locations since he frequently moves to different spots based on the game’s progression. Below is a comprehensive guide on how to initiate his quest, regardless of your current story phase in Elden Ring.
Beginning Alexander’s Quest in Stormhill

Initially, you can find Iron Fist Alexander to the north of the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace in Stormhill (as depicted above). After this encounter, he will journey through Gael Tunnel, preparing for a monumental fight before arriving at Redmane Castle, where players can summon him to assist against Starscourge Radahn.

If you missed meeting him in Stormhill while opting to tackle the Radahn fight first, you’ll notice that he’s managed to free himself thanks to help from another player, as illustrated in the image above.
If you have not yet triggered the Redmane Festival, you can find Alexander at Gael Tunnel’s entrance, where he shares his enthusiasm about going to Redmane Castle. If you have already initiated the Redmane Festival, feel free to chat with him there before facing Radahn, allowing you to summon the cheerful pot for help during the battle.
Initiating Alexander’s Quest in Liurnia Post-Radahn
During your fight against Radahn, you can summon Alexander multiple times without worry; victory or defeat does not lead to permanent death for him or Blaidd, ensuring they will always appear again.

After the Radahn encounter, be sure to have a conversation with Iron Fist Alexander in the surrounding desert before leaving the arena.

Next, you can find him in Liurnia of the Lakes, specifically along the road near the Artist’s Shack Site of Grace (as shown above). If you’ve traveled to Mt. Gelmir at this point, you may skip to the segment detailing Alexander’s subsequent whereabouts.

Once again, Alexander finds himself in a predicament, requiring assistance. He needs you to make him ‘slippery’ so he can escape his buried position. To achieve this, craft and throw an Oil Pot at him.

You can create an Oil Pot with the recipe from Nomadic Warriors Cookbook 17, which you can purchase from the Nomadic Merchant located in Siofra River, along with one Melted Mushroom.

Upon freeing him, Alexander will express his gratitude by rewarding you with three pieces of Exalted Flesh and the Triumphant Delight gesture.
Alexander’s Next Location After Liurnia
Following your encounter in Liurnia, Alexander will proceed to Seethewater Terminus near Volcano Manor. You can engage him again within the lava fields where he resides alongside the Magma Wyrm. Be sure to exhaust his dialogue to obtain the highly coveted Jar mask.
Moreover, he can be summoned for your upcoming battle against the Fire Giant, with his summon sign conveniently located inside the arena.
Your joy from these interactions may fade, as your next encounter with Alexander in Crumbling Farum Azula leads to a situation where he requests an honorable duel (illustrated in the interactive map below). This area is accessible via the Dragon Temple Lift Grace starting from the Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace.
Winning this duel is essential for completing Alexander’s quest. Unfortunately, it leads to his demise, though you will be rewarded with the Shard of Alexander talisman—a powerful talisman indeed—and Alexander’s Innards, which will aid in progressing Jar Bairn’s quest.
