Initiating the Undying Samurai Mythic Tale
To get started with the Undying Samurai Mythic Tale, you’ll first need to locate the Storyteller’s Rest site in the Ishikari Plains.Refer to the images provided earlier for precise guidance on reaching this location.
Specifically, the Storyteller’s Rest is situated to the north of the region, directly above Nakagoya Spring, and adjacent to an enemy camp you might want to clear out beforehand for ease of movement. Upon arrival, engage with Ugetsu to set the Mythic Tale of the Undying Samurai in motion.
After enjoying the captivating cinematic intro, your primary objective is to collect four wind chimes, which will guide you to the mythical samurai’s whereabouts.
Locations of All Wind Chimes
Wind Chime #1
The first wind chime is surprisingly close at hand and crucial for locating the remaining three chimes. In fact, you can spot it during the cutscene featuring Atsu and Ugetsu.
The initial wind chime hangs from a tree near you as soon as you regain control of Atsu. Be sure to eliminate the bear nearby using your Yami longbow before proceeding. Once you collect this chime, a new objective will prompt you to utilize directional sound to locate the others. Feel free to use this feature, but the precise locations are outlined below for your convenience.
Wind Chime #2
Now that you have the first wind chime, swipe up on the Touchpad to direct you toward the next ones.
The second wind chime can be found on a rock formation directly above the ‘Nakagoya Spring’ lettering on your map. Upon reaching this location, search for a corpse with a polearm protruding from it; the chime is attached to it.
Wind Chime #3
For the third chime, head towards the upper mid-left section of the map, near the Rumoi River.
At the designated map location, you’ll spot a Ronin examining a corpse; the wind chime you seek is attached to that body. Naturally, engaging in combat will be necessary, as asking politely won’t yield results.

Defeat the Ronin to claim the third wind chime and prepare for the final one.
Wind Chime #4
The last wind chime is positioned just below the Stone Jaw Coast map lettering, which you can find clearly indicated in the images above.
To retrieve it, navigate to the upper cliffside either by climbing or using your horse. This path overlaps with the route leading to Oni Castle in the main storyline.

Once there, look for a corpse hanging from a rope in a tree; you’ll need to use your grappling hook to lower it. Afterward, hop down to secure the final wind chime.
Locating the Undying Samurai
After collecting all four wind chimes, it’s time to utilize them to locate the mythical Undying Samurai.
Guide yourself using the wind chimes once more to reach the designated summoning location. This area is identifiable in the previously mentioned images, situated on a coastal cliff in the far northwest of the Ishikari Plains.
Once you arrive, look downwards from the cliff’s edge to identify a clear path that leads downward. Navigate through a mixture of rocky trails and climbs until you come upon a cave that leads to a narrow passageway.

Squeeze through this gap to discover a bayside area filled with wind chimes, featuring four wooden posts at the far end meant for placing the chimes you’ve gathered.
Confronting and Defeating the Undying Samurai
The showdown with the Undying Samurai is akin to other skill-centric duels you’ve previously encountered. Pay close attention to his combat patterns and employ aggression to rapidly whittle down both his stagger bar and health points.

Once you’ve triumphed over the Samurai, you’ll unlock the Armor of the Undying, a highly coveted armor set known for its impressive aesthetics and valuable perks, especially once fully upgraded.
