The Guardian Games event in Destiny 2 is nearing its conclusion on April 1st, 2025, heralding a triumphant win for the Titans, who achieved a remarkable number of daily victories. However, the festivities are not over yet. Players still have the opportunity to represent their chosen class and gather medallions and exclusive loot before the event wraps up this weekend.
If you haven’t yet engaged with this year’s Guardian Games activity, Rushdown, now is the perfect time to dive in. You might also be aiming to obtain the exclusive Allstar Vector skimmer or the coveted Godly Array shader.
How to Get Started
First things first, if you’re new to the Guardian Games or missed out on participating in the last two weeks, be sure to visit Eva Levante at the Tower. She is located centrally and will award you a quest alongside an exclusive Guardian Games class item—a free Artifice Armor. Equip this armor to earn medallions passively.
Complete the quest by following Eva’s instructions: equip your new class item, participate in a Guardian Games activity, and then speak to Eva, followed by Zavala and Shaxx. Completing these steps should be straightforward.
Afterward, you will have the freedom to engage in the activities you prefer, whether that’s continuing with Guardian Games events like Rushdown and Supremacy or venturing elsewhere. Eva also offers bounties and Contender Cards, which reward you with Medallions across various tiers: Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. You can earn Bronze and Silver Medallions passively as you complete activities with your Guardian Games class item equipped.
Exploring Rushdown
Rushdown is an engaging boss rush activity where players must tackle five progressively challenging boss encounters within a specified timeframe. Initially, you will start with a pool of 10 revive tokens.
In scenarios where you fail to finish a boss encounter on time or exhaust your revive tokens, your Rushdown session will conclude prematurely, resulting in minimal loot. To ensure you receive a Guardian Games weapon, aim to successfully defeat at least three bosses.
Rushdown features three difficulty levels: Warm-Up, where there are no modifiers or revive tokens; Standard, which remains challenging but manageable; and Expert, marked by more formidable enemies that possess increased health and damage. Opting for Expert difficulty is recommended, as it presents a challenge similar to a Nightfall run.
Each encounter revisits iconic boss fights from Destiny’s extensive history, be it from Exotic missions or campaign battles, and the list of bosses rotates daily. Encounter objectives are often straightforward, though some mechanics may require closer attention.
When attempting Expert difficulty, assembling your best loadout is crucial. While there are numerous encounters to navigate, focusing on builds that enhance both add-clear and boss damage will serve you well. Always prioritize survivability over rushing through the encounters to avoid depleting your revive tokens too quickly.
Understanding Supremacy
For those more inclined towards PvP, the Supremacy mode is an exciting choice. The objective is clear: defeat players from opposing teams and collect their Crests.
Many players overlook this aspect, but it’s vital to pick up the Crests dropped by your fallen teammates to prevent the rival team from scoring. While securing kills is essential, claiming the Crests carries equal importance.
This version of Supremacy opts for a Class vs. Class format, pitting you against another team made up of players from the same class. In my experiences, Hunters are currently dominant in the Crucible, so keep that in mind as you strategize.
Maximizing Medallion Farming & Loot
Now, let’s dive into Medallion farming strategies and how to efficiently earn loot. Whether you’re looking to complete the Guardian Games pass or ignite all eight braziers, it’s crucial to optimize your gameplay to avoid prolonged grinding.
Efficiency is key here, especially considering you might only have a limited timeframe to engage. I recommend dedicating an hour or two this weekend for focused farming. Unless PvP is your primary interest, consider picking up the Platinum Contender Cards “Platinum Plunderer”and “Stand-Out Performance.”
These cards simplify the process significantly.“Stand-Out Performance”requires only the completion of either an Expert Rushdown or a Grandmaster Nightfall to fill progress. On the other hand, “Platinum Plunderer”involves farming orbs of power, making it a convenient card to complete during runs through the Shuro Chi checkpoint or Grasp of Avarice dungeon.
Enhance your orb generation by using relevant perks and armor mods, and consider listening to a podcast or audiobook to make the grind feel less tedious.
If you aim to complete the Event Card or work through other quests, balance your gaming time to avoid burnout. Zavala’s “Shoot to Score”quest requires you to reach a score threshold of 350, 000 to ignite the braziers in the Tower, which could potentially be achieved with a solid performance in just one Expert Rushdown run.
Similarly, Shaxx’s “Vying for Supremacy”quest involves participating in Supremacy matches tailored for the Guardian Games, where winning increases your points. Play Crucible as you normally do, and remember, many rewards can be obtained passively as long as you have equipped the Guardian Games class item and regularly restock on Contender Cards at the Tower.
By depositing enough medallions into the podium, you will ultimately earn the stunning Godly Array shader, which displays a dynamic color shift among red, blue, and yellow—the iconic colors representing the three classes.
