This installment diverges from many contemporary games by offering a limited arsenal. As you traverse the chilling streets of Silent Hill, having these weapons becomes crucial for dispatching the lurking monsters. To ensure you’re ready for any lurking dangers, acquiring these weapons early in your gameplay is highly recommended.
Weapons Available in Silent Hill 2
Currently, Silent Hill 2 includes just four distinct weapons: a handgun, a shotgun, a hunting rifle, and a chainsaw.
Where to Find the Handgun
Your initial weapons will be an iron pipe and a wooden plank. To locate the handgun, thoroughly search the Wood Side Apartments for a note that hints at gunshots coming from apartment 217. Upon entering this apartment, check the shopping cart situated in the middle of the room to retrieve the handgun.
Finding the Hunting Rifle
Known as the most formidable weapon in Silent Hill 2, the hunting rifle can be discovered within the Toluca Prison Armory. It remains locked in the initial room along with a note that states the key can be found in the witness checkpoint. To access this area, navigate through the door featuring a headless serpent. Once inside the execution chamber, overload the generator to unlock all prison doors.
Afterward, obtain the key from the witness chamber to unlock and claim the hunting rifle.
Where to Get the Shotgun
As you advance through the storyline, you’ll eventually reach the Brookhaven Hospital. Upon arrival, note that the gun cabinet situated near the entrance will be empty, indicating it has been stripped of its weapon. To acquire the shotgun, head to the second floor, enter the women’s locker room, and inspect all the lockers until you uncover the shotgun.
Chainsaw Location
After finishing Silent Hill 2, you can access the New Game Plus mode. Restart the adventure to unlock an additional weapon – the chainsaw. As you begin your journey through Silent Hill again, look for the chainsaw along the road that leads to the cemetery. Stay vigilant as you walk this path, and you’ll discover the chainsaw on your right, next to some wooden logs.
