Herdling is a charming and delightful game that can be completed in a single gaming session or over a weekend, making it a perfect choice for fans of cozy games. Although it is straightforward and accessible, players might miss out on some aspects while herding their adorable Calicorns, the fluffy creatures that inhabit the game.
If you’re an achievement enthusiast, staying vigilant for these enchanting furballs is essential so that you can complete all the game’s achievements. The vibrant world of Herdling encourages exploration, and its visually stunning design makes the journey pleasurable.
What are Calicorns?

Calicorns serve as the foundation of your herd in Herdling, resembling fluffy cows with unique eyes. Most larger Calicorns are easy to find as they are located along your main path. However, some are cleverly hidden, creating a challenge for those who seek to capture every last one.
To add a Calicorn to your herd, you may need to perform specific tasks, such as healing the creature before it can join you. Each Calicorn you collect contributes to your stampede meter, allowing you to move faster and unleash more stampedes throughout your gameplay experience.
All Calicorn Locations

While you can complete the game without capturing every Calicorn, doing so unlocks an achievement, adding another layer of motivation for players. This guide outlines all 12 Calicorn locations for you, but note that you’ll need to collect them in order due to limited backtracking options.
First Calicorn

Your journey begins with the first Calicorn, located in a grassy area sporting a bucket on its head. To free it, approach and allow it to bump into a nearby tree, dislodging a branch. Afterward, interact with the Calicorn to remove the bucket.
Interestingly, you have the option to name your Calicorn, or you can let the game generate a name for you.
Second Calicorn

Continue along the path until you reach a yellow gate. A Calicorn can be found on the opposite side, but your priority is to veer right now. This second Calicorn is lounging on old mattresses. Approach it, and it will run into some trash, granting you the chance to tame it.
Third Calicorn

After obtaining the second Calicorn, return to the yellow fence. On the right side of the gate, climb up a ledge to navigate around it. You’ll need to open the gate as this Calicorn tends to hide in its makeshift mattress tent until it sees some companions.
Fourth Calicorn

This Calicorn can be found after pushing a train cart into a building. Once you’ve successfully maneuvered the cart all the way in, jump across the gap, and you’ll spot the Calicorn along with a nearby fruit bush.
Feed the injured Calicorn fruit to heal it, allowing you to tame it afterward. Make sure to stay in the area to locate the next Calicorn.
Fifth Calicorn

Within the train station, he’s hiding beneath a shipping container at the back. When you step away, he may peek out briefly but will scamper if you get too close.
To tame this Calicorn, drop some healing fruit near him and wait. Once he starts munching, you can approach and tame him once he’s finished.
Sixth Calicorn

Moving into the Autumn Forest, you’ll encounter a fallen tree that must be cleared. While pushing it aside, the Calicorn on the other side will help by knocking out some concrete cylinders, allowing you to access your sixth Calicorn.
Seventh Calicorn

This Calicorn is situated near a cliff at the edge of the area. When you get close, part of the cliff will crumble, leading the Calicorn to fall. This mechanic introduces the idea of saving falling Calicorns, and after healing it, taming can take place.
Eighth Calicorn

In the Autumn Forest, you’ll discover your first campfire area, where you can rest and tend to your Calicorns. Following a rest, your Calicorn will lead you to the side of the area, triggering a cutscene in which a bird injures the Calicorn. Heal it with some fruit to make it tameable.
Ninth Calicorn

Your ninth Calicorn is found aboard the ferry after the Autumn Forest. To reach it, activate the gear and push it in with your Calicorn to get the ferry moving. Once docked, you can simply walk on and tame it.
Tenth Calicorn

The tenth Calicorn is located right of the painting area in Chapter V: Mountain Range. Navigate towards the end of the path, where you’ll find this soft creature waiting. Don’t forget to activate the yellow flower statue to proceed.
After taming this Calicorn, you will receive the achievement ‘A Good Bunch’ for collecting ten Calicorns.
Eleventh Calicorn

In the same chapter as the last Calicorn, you will encounter another bird incident where a Calicorn crashes into a small statue and sustains injuries. Healing fruits are close by for you to utilize. Don’t worry too much about missing the next Calicorn, as it takes a bit to find.
Twelfth Calicorn

In Chapter VI: Glacial Valley, you’ll need to gather your Herd. Once you’ve done that, head towards the large structure at the end of this area, where two paintings will be on either side. Take the left path, beyond the ramp to discover a ghostly Calicorn near the edge of the map.
Following the ghost will lead you to an injured Calicorn, which you can easily heal with nearby fruit. Taming this creature unlocks the achievement ‘The Herd is Gathered, ’ getting you closer to completing the game.
Herdling is a delightful and engaging cozy game that players can easily complete. If you’re aiming to collect all achievements in a single run, careful navigation of your Calicorns through each level is crucial.
