Complete Guide and Tips for the Devil’s Pack Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Embark on the Devil’s Pack Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 as you navigate the intricate storylines following your previous adventures in Speak of the Devil. This time, your journey revolves around locating the missing friends of the Dry Devil, who are hiding in obscure corners of Kuttenberg. Successfully completing this quest not only rewards you with premium treasure, including a new map, but also encourages strategic interactions along the way.

This guide provides essential details on how to interact with Bohuta, Ranyek, Adder, Janosh, and Matthew, ensuring optimal outcomes. While you have the freedom to locate them in any sequence, the path we suggest maximizes dialogue opportunities and maintains a smooth quest flow. Whether you prefer to finish the quest in one go or tackle individual tasks while exploring the region, this guide will assist you.

Finding Bohuta: Your First Stop

Begin your quest by locating Bohuta, who can be found in the churchyard at Grund, either in the chapel or tending to the grounds, depending on the time of your visit. Engaging with him reveals his reluctance to return to the Devil’s Den, but he does offer a tip about Ranyek’s whereabouts.

Should You Correct Bohuta’s Latin During Prayer?

Bohuta requests that you join him in prayer, and accepting this offer will serve you well. If you possess a scholarship level of 17 or higher, you may feel tempted to correct his Latin; however, it is advisable not to do so. By respectfully saying the prayer as Bohuta intended, you’ll be rewarded with one of Kuttenberg’s treasure maps. While you could opt for the more disruptive route of correcting him and taking the map through theft, it’s far less rewarding.

Tracking Down Ranyek

Bohuta hints that Ranyek is near Pschitoky, specifically at an inn to the south. Speak with the innkeeper to discover that Ranyek lost a dice game and had his debt covered by someone from Bylany. The innkeeper also provides information on where to locate Adder later.

Make your way south to Bylany, where the innkeeper shares details about Ranyek’s involvement with a man named Zdena. Zdena, who is loitering outside the inn, will guide you to where Ranyek played dice the previous night. Cautioning you about Ranyek’s predicament, Zdena suggests he likely escaped through the lavatory and is not in great shape.

Confronting Ranyek’s Dire Situation

Zdena will insist you settle Ranyek’s debt, or you can take the initiative to pull him from his unfortunate state. While alternatives include feigning ignorance or engaging in combat with the gamblers, such approaches are less effective for this quest. Choose to rescue Ranyek from the filth, and after searching through the muck, you will ultimately find him deceased.

Retrieve Ranyek’s body and place it on solid ground. You’re welcome to take items from him, including a desirable bow.

To Take or not to Take Ranyek’s Bow

You face several options: return Ranyek’s bow or purchase it for 1, 000 groschen, which is quite steep. However, securing the bow—a weapon of considerable strength—can be advantageous in your journey. If you’re inclined to keep it and don’t mind a little dishonesty, you can simply claim the bow and make a quick exit; rest assured, they won’t pursue you indefinitely.

Whatever choice you opt for, don’t forget to clean yourself up before interacting with others; the lingering stench won’t go away on its own.

Rescuing Adder from Trouble

Your next destination is Pschitoky. There, converse with Eva and consider bringing along a painkiller brew for a unique interaction. Inquire about any potential connection she may have with Adder. While this question may harm your reputation, it can also unveil crucial information, along with the opportunity to offer her the brew to alleviate the strains imposed by her husband. You’ll discover that Adder was not involved with her, although you can still complete the quest without learning this detail.

Proceed to the marked tree on your map to initiate a cutscene involving Adder and the butcher. Your next steps will depend on the information acquired from Eva; if you learned the truth, confidently assert, “He didn’t do anything; it’s all lies!” and follow up with “It’s just slander.” Expect to pass a charisma check following this statement, and eventually, cut the rope to liberate Adder.

If you lack the necessary information, opt for “He belongs to the lord of Suchdol!” (requiring an impression of 10) to navigate this tense scene. Regardless, you’ll need to cut Adder down to prevent his demise.

Beware: failure to pass checks, an accusation against the butcher, or choosing a violent course of action will force you into a challenging fight. While it’s winnable, the end result is likely unfavorable. Alternatively, if you choose to let Adder hang, know that such an outcome is also far from ideal.

Should You Equip Adder?

Pleasantly, the answer is no. Bestowing him with a weapon will prompt him to initiate conflict with others.

Locating Janosh at Miskowitz

Your next visit should be Miskowitz, located west of Bylany. Do not venture too far west at this point, as it may restrict your options regarding Matthew.

The innkeeper at Miskowitz reveals that Janosh is currently detained in the pillory. Engage with Janosh to understand his reasons for attacking the blacksmith’s assistant, Loyza. Afterward, converse with the bailiff, who will offer various dialogue choices; the option to offer healing for Loyza will progress your quest. You may also discuss Matthew with the bailiff, unlocking further quests.

Check on the injured Loyza. Successfully passing a craftsmanship test will provide beneficial insights for your next steps. The ideal treatment pathway is:

  • “Maybe a potion will do”(medium alchemy check)
  • Clean the wound
  • Administer the potion
  • Conclude the treatment

Strive to hand over either a weak or, preferably, strong Marigold Decoction; however, administering just a painkiller followed by a prayer seems to heal him as well. Some players have successfully saved him using a buck’s blood potion too, suggesting that almost any healing potion could work in this scenario.

Notify the bailiff that Loyza will survive, then proceed to settle Janosh’s fine, which is initially set at 500 groschen but can often be negotiated down. Free Janosh and continue your quest.

An alternative option is to follow Janosh’s advice and pick the lock while the guards are away, though this decision is unpopular and comes with the difficulty of a hazardous lockpick challenge.

Meeting Matthew: The Final Encounter

Your last task involves tracking down Matthew, who has stooped to masquerading as a tax collector to rob unsuspecting travelers. You’ll find him nestled between Suchdol and Miskowitz. Previously, if you discussed Matthew with the bailiff in Miskowitz, you’ll find him easily at his campsite, allowing you to sidestep an automatic confrontation.

Otherwise, he may ambush you on the road, with the only option being to eliminate him. Engage him in a conversation, indicating that you’ll inform the Dry Devil that Matthew refuses to return. Successfully passing a medium difficulty speech check—”The Devil will have his revenge!” —will avert his hostile response. Alternatively, an intimidation attempt can yield the same outcome, though it’s more challenging. If Matthew survives, he returns to camp and can teach you skills; otherwise, loot his body for the item the bailiff desires.

Notably, you will not be able to complete The Collector quest for the bailiff with Matthew still alive. The reward for that assignment is a meager 285 groschen, so little is truly lost.

Finally, there are no consequential choices that follow; report back to the Devil, celebrate with the crew, and reconvene with the Dry Devil for follow-up dialogue the next day.
