Complete Guide and Card List for Pokemon TCG Pocket Infernape ex Deck

The latest expansion pack for Pokémon TCG Pocket, titled Space-Time Smackdown, has introduced an exciting array of shiny new Pokémon cards, including several from the fourth generation. This eagerly awaited update brings beloved Sinnoh region Pokémon into play, including the popular starter Pokémon: Turtwig, Piplup, and Chimchar. Among these newcomers, Infernape ex stands out as one of the most formidable cards available, making it essential for both novice and seasoned players. This article provides a comprehensive guide to effectively utilizing the Infernape ex deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket.

Essential Infernape ex Deck Guide and Card List

In Pokémon TCG Pocket, the Infernape ex deck operates with a strategy reminiscent of the Charizard ex deck. However, Infernape ex boasts a more efficient setup, requiring only two Energy cards to unleash a powerful 140 damage attack against your opponent.

To maximize efficiency, we recommend including Moltres ex in your strategy. This card enhances your overall attack capability and aids in stacking Energy. While we primarily suggest focusing on these two cards, the inclusion of strong Basic Fire-types such as Magmar or Heatmor can be beneficial if you choose to reduce the number of Trainer Cards in your deck.

  • 2x Chimchar
  • 2x Monferno
  • 2x Infernape ex
  • 2x Moltres ex
  • 1x Magmar
  • 2x Poke Ball
  • 2x Professor’s Research
  • 2x Rocky Helmet
  • 1x Leaf
  • 2x Dawn
  • 2x Pokemon Communication

Ideally, you want to have Moltres ex in the Active Spot while you set up Infernape ex on your bench. The evolution process requires Chimchar and Monferno, and setting up the necessary two Energy cards may take two to three turns at the most.

Your gameplay approach can take one of two paths: you can attach Energy cards to both Infernape ex cards if you have two Chimchar, or you can manually add Energy to Moltres ex each turn while utilizing its Inferno Dance attack to transfer Energy to Infernape ex. Any leftover Energy from Inferno Dance can be assigned to another Chimchar or Magmar.

Choosing your tactic hinges on whether you prefer Moltres ex to perform attacks or envision Infernape ex overpowering your rivals. If you hold two Dawn Supporter cards, lean towards allowing Infernape ex to lead the charge.

Keep in mind that any additional Energy attached to Infernape ex beyond the required two will not be utilized effectively. By leveraging the Dawn Supporter card, you can redistribute Energy from any spare Chimchar or Magmar onto your Infernape ex in the Active Spot. If you have two Dawn cards at your disposal and manage to attach two Energy cards to Infernape ex, this allows for consecutive attacks over three turns before a retreat is necessary, assuming your Infernape ex isn’t knocked out.

Ideally, you would want to conclude the battle at this point. However, if it continues, your next move should be dictated by the Energy levels on your other Pokémon, such as Moltres ex or a second Infernape ex. If any of these can attack, switch them in and continue your assault until you can energize Infernape ex again. If your opponent is gearing up their strongest Pokémon, it may be wise to send in Magmar or either Chimchar/Monferno to absorb damage rather than sacrificing Moltres ex — unless Moltres ex has sufficient HP to endure the incoming attack.

This strategy grants you the necessary time to rally Energy on Infernape ex (or retain Energy on Moltres ex if it has already absorbed enough) and helps you limit prize points lost in battle.

As usual, the inclusion of Poke Ball and Professor’s Research cards ensures your hand remains robust and adaptable. Additionally, Pokemon Communication cards allow you to exchange Pokémon in your hand with those in your deck, facilitating evolutions by swapping cards like Magmar for Monferno when necessary.

Moreover, having one Leaf Supporter card offers the advantage of retreating Moltres ex without losing any attached Energy. Finally, two Rocky Helmet Item cards can provide an extra layer of defense; when equipped on your Active Pokémon, they inflict 20 damage to the attacking Pokémon, mimicking Druddigon’s Rough Skin Ability.

This defensive maneuver can chip away at formidable ex Pokémon before or after Infernape ex unleashes its 140-damage attack, potentially deterring opponents from attacking at all. Keep in mind, however, that you’ll still need to strategize against heavy hitters like Charizard ex capable of delivering 200 damage.
