Complete Deltarune Chapter 4: 100% Completion Guide and Tips

Complete Deltarune Chapter 4: 100% Completion Guide and Tips

Deltarune Chapter 4 shifts away from the minigame focus of Chapter 3, embracing a more traditional structure filled with abundant content. Players can expect an expansive light world alongside three unique dark worlds, offering a substantial gameplay experience that can be lengthy and engaging.

In this guide, I’ll outline every critical and optional feature you can discover within this chapter, including the Secret Boss, the Egg Room, and a range of distinctive armor and weaponry. While I won’t delve into every piece of dialogue or the infinite-item chests, this will cover all major aspects essential for a thorough completion.

Exploring the Light World

Before diving deeper, join Susie as you uncover numerous important interactions and cutscenes that add significant value to the narrative while exploring the Light World.

Kris’ Room

Visit Kris’ room before or after church—both timings are valid. Here, you’ll find Susie aiding you in cleaning a bloodstain from beneath the bed and even the chance to take five dollars from Asriel, ensuring you’re financially equipped for your adventures. Make sure to also check Kris’ bed to earn the Susie award, as both actions may influence future events.

Castle Town

Screenshot of Tenna asking to find someone to Adopt him in Deltarune.

Though it might seem unusual to head into the dark world right after the Light World segment, doing so immediately after exiting the church unlocks Tenna in your Castle Town. This brings an influx of amusing interactions, particularly with the King, which would be missed if delayed.

If you wish, you can access Mike’s room using the code 6453 (the numeric equivalent of “Mike”on a phone keypad) for some exclusive console content. This can be done later as well, so you may choose to revisit it after finishing the entire chapter to avoid having to reload your save file post-boss battle.

Once done, navigate to the castle for a tea session with Ralsei, explore his disappointingly empty room on the second floor, and prepare for your journey into the dark world as you see fit.

Egg Desk

As you’re now prompted to store eggs, proceed to your classroom and interact with Berdly’s desk to place your egg from Chapter 3, provided you have it in your possession.

Diner

With Asriel’s five-dollar theft under your belt, you can now indulge in a delightful meal with Susie, indicative of a thriving economy in the Deltarune universe. This lengthy cutscene provides substantial character development for Susie, potentially bearing significance later on.

Interaction with Sans

As is customary, finish your interaction with Sans to set up the potential for Papyrus to appear later. Engage with him until he prompts your return, step out, re-enter, and converse again to progress.

Tennadoption Quest

Dialogue where you Offer Your TV in Deltarune.

If you previously offered Tenna some entertainment, return to provide him to the suspiciously Mettaton-shaped ghost, but only if you pacified him in the previous chapter.

First Sanctuary Adventures

This sanctuary is the longest of the three, and you’ll discover many optional activities as you navigate through. Let’s break down the notable items and interactions.

Discovering Darker Candy

After some time spent acquiring Rhapsoteas and Scarlixirs, you’ll arrive at a fork where the Old Man takes one path while Ralsei and Susie venture down another. Regardless of the direction you choose, ensure you explore the top right before playing the piano, where a hidden Darker Candy awaits.

Waferguard and ScarfMark

Once you reach the study area, acquire the WaferGuard, a solid defense item typically favored as one of the better options not obtained from secret bosses. Ralsei’s ScarfMark offers +4 attack, albeit at the cost of some magic, making it a balanced choice before facing the final boss of this chapter.

Interacting with the Money Pool

Putting Money in the Fountain in Deltarune

Although you aren’t required to do this immediately, the Money Pool located to the left of the bookcase room offers various rewards based on how much you donate. These can be collected later in the second sanctuary.

Donating even a minimal amount gets you a Darker Candy; less than 500 awards a Scarlixir; less than 2000 earns a ReviveMint, and below 9999 grants you a Bitter Tear, restoring double the maximum HP of a chosen party member. Donating 9999 or more gives you a Gold Widow armor piece, which has limited use. For practical purposes, aim for the Bitter Tear.

Any donation grants access to an alternate entrance to a dark room through a waterfall split, leading to an optional puzzle once you’ve collected climbing gear.

Uncovering AbsorbAx

In the north room adjacent to the bookcase chamber, you’ll encounter a puzzle involving two pianos and blocks. To progress, simply take the rightmost door, but if you wish to collect an item, divert through the leftmost door.

Position the green block beneath the chest, and place the blue block between a bookcase and another set with a ladder to obtain the AbsorbAx. While this item may represent a downgrade in damage for Susie, it offers vampirism, proving useful in upcoming boss battles.

Acquiring the MysticBand

In the same area where you found the AbsorbAx, move the green block to the left of the room—between a bookcase and a door. Shift it right and climb the ladder to find the MysticBand. This item provides +4 magic, occasionally benefiting Ralsei.

Couch Cushion and Ladder

At the far-right room in the hallway filled with floating Guei spirits, initiate dialogue with Susie to retrieve the couch cushion for Ralsei, ensuring he has a comfortable spot later. A similar exchange occurs nearby the ladder in the previous room.

Engaging with Miss Mizzle

Upon defeating the comedic boss, gain the climbing gear to start backtracking for the Secret Boss quest. While not all steps are necessary, focus on those yielding rewards starting with a journey back to the room filled with shadow balls to find a climbable bookcase.

Traverse through an obstacle course involving flowing water until you meet Miss Mizzle—a unique recruit contributing to your completion and providing another Bitter Tear if you choose to embezzle from her, not just because of her charm.

Tea Time Part Two

Return to the fountain room, proceed through the waterfall, and climb the bells at the end. Request Gerson to illuminate the area, permanently altering it and marking a significant cutscene for Gerson.

Challenging the Secret Boss

Revisit the Study and scale the books next to the save point at the room’s top. Head to the piano and play a specific sequence of notes to unlock access to the Secret Boss. The sequence is: Up, Neutral, Up, Left, Down, Neutral, Right, Neutral, Right, Down, Left, and Neutral.

On successfully playing this, a fireplace opens in the Study. Equip Susie with your best defensive gear alongside the AbsorbAx, minimize item usage, and prepare yourself for the challenging boss fight featuring the Hammer of Justice.

Deltarune Magic Axe in the cutscene with Susie.

In this battle, your primary goal is to react swiftly to incoming arrows and dodge when the soul’s color turns red. Since Susie is your only playable character, the encounter relies heavily on skilled execution and timely healing with her magic whenever possible.

As a reward for conquering this challenge, you’ll receive a Shadow Crystal and the most powerful Axe available for Susie. There’s no moral choice to contend with in this battle—simply relish your hard-earned rewards.

Claiming the Winglade

From the Study, proceed right, navigate the stairs, and head down left to climb a pillar where the Winglade awaits—a solid weapon option for Kris if you’re low on funds or lack the Black Shard.

Obtaining the PowerBand

The PowerBand in Deltarune.

While scaling a wall to collect coins for the first time, venture right past multiple flowing water traps to enter the Cup Challenge room that demands precise timing.

During this challenge, you’ll be pitted against a timed climbing obstacle requiring you to jump as far as possible while maintaining momentum. Upon reaching the top, navigate through a series of cups before arriving at a lightly guarded chest containing the PowerBand— an armor piece of decent quality but unique in nature.

Securing the TensionGem

Immediately outside the Cup Challenge room, leap onto the initial set of climbing rocks underwater. Remain still at the center to let the water carry you down an alternate path, where you can obtain a TensionGem.

Returning to the Light World

Susie and the Piano

You won’t be here for long, but it’s crucial to highlight that you can uncover another significant, missable cutscene with Susie. Head to the leftmost room in the church and interact with the piano, providing deeper context that may prove relevant later.

Second Sanctuary Exploration

As Susie charges ahead into the darkness, you’ll navigate a series of surreal experiences before gathering your first collectibles, albeit there are still items to find along the way.

Fountain Item Collection

After reaching the room hosting the upside-down save point, access the opposite side of the fountain donation area, where a chest contains one of the rewards previously discussed.

Locating the Egg and Moss

Following an emotional ascent with Susie, she will dash independently to the left. Instead, proceed to the right and enter the door.

If missed, you can still find an invisible path near the end of the First Sanctuary, where you dodge shadow balls and gain entry, leading you to talk to an NPC that prompts “Yes.”

Regardless, you’ll discover a lengthy corridor adorned with stained glass windows reminiscent of the Spamton Sweepstakes. While there’s moss in this area, prioritize finding the egg first.

Walk towards the end of the hallway, selecting a window showcasing the egg shape subtly outlined with lighter shading. Interact with this window for lore and cryptic connections to the sweepstakes. As customary, repeatedly exit and re-enter until placed in a hospital.

Enter the tree door, navigate through the darkness, and interact persistently until you ultimately engage with the canvas. This melancholic event allows Kris to confront their buried trauma, yielding an egg as the outcome.

After securing the egg, return to the hallway, consume the moss, and exit—satisfied with your ‘breakfast of champions.’

Final Sanctuary Adventure

With two fountains sealed, you now approach the final sanctuary housing the game’s best music. Intriguingly, the first task is to exit this sanctuary immediately.

Competing in the Dog Race

The Dog Race, with the Dog on Stilts in Deltarune.

This whimsical segment allows you to interact with a green flame, teleporting you back to the Study in the first sanctuary. Enter the middle door to participate in a race with the Annoying Dog. While it’s unlikely you’ll win, your prize is a single Dog Dollar, which is best sold promptly.

Finding the Princess Ribbon

Within the room where aggressive books attack you, dash to the top right corner to uncover a hidden pathway obstructed by bookshelves leading to a new accessory.

This segment consists of a jumping puzzle demanding precise timing. Charge your jump and release at the perfect moment to succeed. Your reward is the PrincessRibbon, providing +4 defense, +2 attack, and a curious stat of elegance, though its function remains ambiguous.

Judgement Bell Check

The Judgement Bell in Deltarune.

As your final task here, ring the bell on the right after riding the piano and reaching a save point. If the message indicates that you spared everyone possible, you’ve achieved a commendable outcome; if not, revisit any incomplete recruitment efforts before facing the final fight.
