According to Colorful, the newly introduced X3D AI Turbo feature promises a substantial enhancement in gaming performance for users utilizing Ryzen X3D processors.
Colorful Unveils X3D AI Turbo Mode: Enhancing Average FPS by Nearly 8% and 1% Low FPS by 16% on CVN 800-Series ARK Motherboards
The launch of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D has set a new standard in gaming performance, prompting motherboard manufacturers to innovate features that optimize the capabilities of these advanced processors. While the Ryzen 7 9800X3D continues to be a formidable gaming CPU, it offers nearly equivalent performance to its successor. Given the vast number of existing users with the 9800X3D installed, it is prudent to develop solutions that unlock its full potential.
Colorful, a prominent hardware manufacturer in China, recently introduced a unique feature dubbed X3D AI Turbo. This technology simplifies the gaming experience by allowing users to enhance their frame rates almost instantaneously, eliminating the need for extensive manual adjustments.

The X3D AI Turbo feature aligns closely with GIGABYTE’s approach, which also enhances the performance of Ryzen X3D CPUs through a Turbo mode available on their AM5 motherboards. Similar to GIGABYTE’s implementation, Colorful’s feature utilizes preset Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) and frequency-tuning profiles, all optimized using artificial intelligence. This functionality can be accessed directly in the motherboard’s BIOS. An ‘Auto Select’ mechanism evaluates the quality of the CPU and automatically selects the optimal performance profile.

Currently, X3D AI Turbo is designed to work exclusively with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 9850X3D processors. This contrasts with GIGABYTE’s utility, which reportedly extends compatibility to non-X3D AM5 chips. It’s worth noting that Colorful had previously released a similar utility that supported non-X3D CPUs, showcasing its commitment to broad chipset compatibility.
According to Colorful’s internal assessments, the X3D AI Turbo mode demonstrated impressive results. In conjunction with the Ryzen 7 9850X3D and the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, users experienced an average FPS improvement of 8.3% in Valorant, while the 1% low FPS surged by an impressive 16.4%.
Performance enhancements will likely vary depending on the specific game title and overall system configuration. At this stage, X3D AI Turbo is officially supported by two motherboard models: the CVN B850M ARK Frozen and CVN X870E ARK Frozen, both of which have been recently announced.
