 
						Recent advancements in memory optimization seem to significantly enhance gaming performance on systems powered by Ryzen 9000 processors, particularly when utilizing Colorful’s AM5 motherboards.
Colorful Unveils “Low Latency”and “High Performance”Memory Modes for 600 and 800 Series Motherboards
Today, Chinese hardware manufacturer Colorful has announced the launch of innovative memory-related features aimed at optimizing performance for its AM5 motherboard lineup. These enhancements focus on diminishing memory latency, a common bottleneck that Ryzen 9000 series CPUs often encounter.
The newly introduced memory modes, dubbed “Low Latency”and “High Performance, ”are initially available on select 800-series motherboards, including the Tomahawk B850M Super Black Blade, Colorfire B850M Meow, and CVN B850M ARK Frozen. Users with X870, B850, and B650 chipsets can also access these features by performing a BIOS update to the latest version. According to Colorful, implementing these modes can yield a substantial increase in application and gaming performance.


To access the Low Latency mode, users should navigate to the Overclocking tab in BIOS, proceed to Memory Settings, then Memory Module Resource, where they can select the EXPO1 preset to enable Low Latency Mode under “Memory Multiplier Configuration.”Likewise, the High Performance mode is accessible in the BIOS settings, allowing users to choose “Tightest”mode to further enhance memory bandwidth and minimize latency.

Colorful has reported that by applying these settings, they succeeded in reducing memory latency by 12 ns, resulting in read speeds that were 5 GB/s higher and write speeds exceeding 4.5 GB/s in AIDA64 tests without altering the existing memory frequency of 6000 MT/s. Notably, in gaming scenarios such as Battlefield 6, the updated memory configurations saw an increase in average frame rates from 146 FPS to 172 FPS, marking a commendable 15% uplift in performance. However, it is essential to note that these findings are based on Colorful’s internal tests, and independent benchmarks may be required to validate these claims.
