Colin Cowherd cautions Aaron Rodgers’ Jets despite Haason Reddick’s addition: “It has to work by October 15”

Aaron Rodgers and Haason Reddick are now teammates.

Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles reportedly traded their two-time Pro Bowl linebacker to the New York Jets in exchange for Bryce Huff, who had left the Jets during free agency. This move fills the void left by Huff and also marks the final year of the linebacker’s contract with the Eagles.

This adds another formidable pass rusher to their roster, pairing well with Pro Bowlers Quinnen Williams, Jermaine Johnson II, and CJ Mosley.

Despite the move, veteran sportscaster Colin Cowherd remains doubtful. During a conversation with 3 & Out host John Middlekauff on his self-titled podcast on Sunday, he expressed his skepticism by stating:

“So the first year, it was kind of like, let’s get friends of Aaron. This offseason, it’s been like, let’s just get some older players… go all in. I think Haason Reddick has something in the tank, maybe a little bit of a Von Miller here, where there’ll be moments, you’ll be like, ‘oh yeah,’ and then you’ll be like, ‘he’s old, and he’s not in his prime.’

“It not only has to work, it has to work by October 15. Or otherwise, I think you start losing the owner, the GM, I think you start losing people with Aaron.”

On Monday, the trade was made official and Reddick, in an extraordinary press conference, spoke for the first time about his new team, Gotham Green. In regards to Cowherd’s remarks, he expressed his anticipation for a fun and surprising experience.

“I believe I have a lot left in the tank. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be here. That’s pretty much that. I feel like when I don’t have any more left to give, I’ll retire. Until that point, I’m going to continue to try to play my best ball.”

The player drafted in the first round of 2017, who has played for the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers for the past five years, also commended his fellow teammates, whom he referred to as “young dawgs.”

“With the group that we have, the front that we have, we should be able to do that really often. I’m happy to be around a group of guys like this, a talented roster such as this one.”

It is anticipated that he will debut in his new team uniform during the start of offseason workouts on April 15.
