Cody Rhodes reveals shocking career-altering WWE plans if he fails against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL
Despite the result of the rematch between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL, the WWE’s landscape is on the verge of a permanent transformation. In a surprising turn of events, The American Nightmare unveiled his plans in case of a loss in Philadelphia.
After making a dramatic comeback to WWE, Cody Rhodes quickly rose to the pinnacle of success by defeating Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins at WrestleMania 38 in Texas. His popularity soared as he became the top fan favorite in the promotion and even faced off against Roman Reigns and The Bloodline in last year’s ‘Mania.
Despite his disappointment at last year’s event, Cody Rhodes persevered and formed new alliances to continue his journey. During an interview on ESPN’s First Take, the former AEW star shared that if he was unable to complete his story, he would consider taking on a role as a commentator in the WWE.
“If I don’t finish the story, I might as well move over to commentary at that point. I might as well hit the booth… It’s hard enough to be a good guy in 2024 and they’ve rode with me, these fans, they’ve been supportive. They’ve created the #WeWantCody movement, the whole thing. So if I lost again, feel like you lose their faith. More than anything, even if I didn’t believe [winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship], they believed. So, I’ve got to do it for them. I believe, but they believe,”said Rhodes.
With the biggest WrestleMania ever approaching in just a few days in Philadelphia, the pressure is mounting for the second-generation star.
Cody Rhodes Calls for Return of 6-Time WWE World Champion
After a year of facing both familiar and new opponents, Cody Rhodes gave his all to complete his journey. His efforts paid off when he emerged victorious against Roman Reigns in a highly anticipated rematch at WrestleMania XL, reclaiming his spot at the top.
Currently, there are numerous speculations and hypotheses surrounding the potential comeback of former stars to the WWE in order to aid The American Nightmare in overthrowing The Tribal Chief. In an interview with ESPN, Cody Rhodes expressed his desire for Batista to make a return to the promotion.
“Bryan [Danielson] is one of the most fun examples ever of a real, organic groundswell,”Rhodes said. I wish Batista would come back now because I felt so bad. Like, you’re booing Batista. This is Drax [from Guardians of the Galaxy], right? He’s such a lovable and wonderful character.”
Despite retiring at The Grandest Stage of Them All in 2019 against Triple H, it is highly unlikely that The Animal will make a comeback to WWE for another run.
