Cody Rhodes reveals major reason why he must win at WrestleMania XL
WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes has revealed an intriguing statement before his highly anticipated main event match at WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia. For the second consecutive year, he will be vying for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns at the premium live event taking place this weekend.
The final participant in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, The American Nightmare, revealed at the WrestleMania Kickoff press conference in February that he had chosen Roman Reigns as his opponent. The intensity of their feud has escalated in recent times, with Rhodes acknowledging the importance of defeating Reigns at The Show of Shows this year. During an interview on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Rhodes expressed his determination to prove the lyrics of his theme song by defeating The Tribal Chief.
“But I feel like we’re kind of this outcast family in the wrestling industry. And one of the things about my song, it says, ‘Wrestling has more than one royal family!’ For that to really be true, I have to beat Roman Reigns. For that to really be true, because that is the greatest family. You saw that chart; all of us saw it; it was intimidating enough! Five of the names, not to mention the other fifty on there. But for that to be true, I have to beat Roman Reigns!”said Cody Rhodes.
Cody Rhodes Opens Up About His Appreciation for WWE Press Conferences
According to Cody Rhodes, the press conferences held by the promotion are a favorite of his. He specifically mentioned the post-WWE Fastlane 2023 conference as one of his favorites. At this event, The American Nightmare and Jey Uso were victorious over The Judgment Day to claim the title of Undisputed Tag Team Champions.
During his appearance on The MMA Hour, Cody Rhodes shared that the press conference he had with Jey Uso was a highlight of his career. He mentioned that Jey Uso played a role in helping him break out of his reserved nature, and he had a great time embracing the playful tone of the press conference.
“Those press conferences—I’m not sure if you realize this, but those are some of my favorite things ever! A top-ten career moment is me and Jey Uso at that presser after Fastlane [2023]. It is just an absolute top ten career moment for me because it was so ridiculous and stupid. I had been for so long—almost political, almost robotic! I still had a little bit of that in me, and then for him [Jey Uso] to kind of bring me out of my shell and loosen me up, it was a really fun moment!”said Cody Rhodes.
Despite previous losses, Cody Rhodes has been given another opportunity to claim the championship title in the highly anticipated main event of this year’s WrestleMania. The outcome of the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match on The Grandest Stage of Them All remains uncertain, and only time will reveal the winner.
