Cody Rhodes provides a major update on his WWE future days before WrestleMania 40
In 2022, Cody Rhodes made a comeback to WWE at WrestleMania 38 after a six-year absence. Since then, The American Nightmare has played a crucial role in the Stamford-based company and it appears that Rhodes intends to remain dedicated.
During a recent interview with Justin Walker, Rhodes revealed that he had agreed to a new multi-year contract extension with WWE. The American Nightmare announced the news just days prior to WrestleMania 40.
Rhodes, who is currently 38 years old, has recently announced that his new contract will continue past his 40th birthday. This implies that the contract lasts for more than two years.
“I can tell you 40 is out of the question just because, not to give you scoop, it was widely reported, but I did sign a new contract with WWE. It extends beyond my 40th birthday,”said Rhodes. [H/T SEScoops]

Ever since his comeback, Rhodes has engaged in rivalries with the likes of Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, The Judgment Day, and various others. He also headlined WrestleMania 39 last year as a former AEW EV, but was unable to claim victory over Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Cody Rhodes hints at potential retirement plans
Cody Rhodes recently discussed his retirement plans, expressing his desire to exit professional wrestling without experiencing any pain. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion shared that he hopes to have a smooth transition away from the sport.
During his conversation with Justin Walker, Rhodes acknowledged that he reached his prime later in life and sometimes loses sight of the fact that he is approaching 40 years old.
“The plan is still, when it’s time to step out, to step out without it being a painful process. Solely because I saw my dad [Dusty Rhodes] as an old man wrestler and he loved it and enjoyed it, but as his son it was hard to see. My daughter is two going on three, there does have a be a time, just like he was with us, where I have to be home all the time and be there with her. It’s not 40 anymore. I’ll update the number. I hit the prime run late in the game. I often forget that I’m nearing 40,”added Rhodes. [H/T SEScoops]
Cody Rhodes is set to take on Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship during Night Two of WrestleMania 40. Additionally, he will join forces with Seth Rollins in a tag team match against Reigns and The Rock on Night One.
It will certainly be intriguing to witness if Rhodes is able to complete his story at WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia next weekend.
