Cody Rhodes might not get cleared to face Roman Reigns after major setback on WrestleMania 40 Night One, says WWE legend
The current focus in the WWE is on one of its most captivating WrestleMania storylines in recent years, as The Rock has become involved in Cody Rhodes’ pursuit of the Undisputed Universal Title. Dutch Mantell has foreseen that Rhodes may face a brutal defeat on Night One, making his challenge on Night Two even more challenging.
Given that WrestleMania is taking place in Philadelphia, it is no surprise that WWE is drawing inspiration from Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky and positioning Cody Rhodes as the ultimate underdog hero.
Despite his defeat last year, The American Nightmare is determined to claim the throne from Roman Reigns. However, in order to secure a fair fight for the Undisputed Universal Title, he must first defeat both The Rock and Reigns in a tag team match the night before, eliminating any potential interference.
During his appearance on the most recent installment of Story Time, Dutch Mantell expressed his belief that not only would Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins be defeated on Night One, but they would also face a post-match attack from The Bloodline as punishment for the former AEW star.
Mantell presented a situation in which Cody Rhodes may not receive the necessary medical approval to compete against Roman Reigns. The ex-WWE manager clarified:
“I think Cody is going to lose, like you said, on the first night. And then they are going to do a number on Cody, I think. I think we’ll have him actually get helped to the dressing room or gurneyed out because they will beat his a** that bad. And the second night, we could start by saying that Cody Rhodes hasn’t been given the go for the match tonight, but they won’t announce that halfway through. And Cody says, I’ve waited this long; they are going to have to kill me. And have him go back out there.”[From 21:50 onwards]

Dutch Mantell Believes Cody Rhodes Must Secure a Win at WrestleMania 40
Cody Rhodes is anticipated to win the championship in a manner reminiscent of Rocky Balboa, and the majority hope for this to occur at WrestleMania XL.
Dutch Mantell made a comparison to the initial installment of the Rocky series and expressed confidence that Rhodes would defy the odds and emerge victorious in the main event. He also suggested that the dynamic between The Rock and Roman Reigns could play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the match, possibly with The Final Boss unintentionally assisting The American Nightmare.
The seasoned wrestler commented that a finish similar to that would add an extra level of excitement to the period following WrestleMania.
“Here he comes, the spirit of ’76. You can beat me down, but you can’t keep me down. He goes out there and goes through it all over again. And Cody, somehow, through a misdirection with The Rock and Roman, Cody goes over and wins. Now, that takes precedence over Cody winning; now I think people leave that show going; now what’s going to happen?”[From 22:34 onwards]
It has been confirmed that Rhodes has extended their contract with WWE, and it appears that this will finally lead to their long-awaited crowning at WrestleMania. While a significant victory seems likely, the path to achieving it is of utmost importance.
