Cody Rhodes could lose twice at WrestleMania XL to set up another huge match, WWE veteran thinks (Exclusive)

On April 6, during Night One of WrestleMania XL, The Rock and Roman Reigns are set to battle against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. According to Vince Russo, a former WWE writer, it is crucial for The Bloodline to emerge victorious over the babyface duo in order to generate more excitement for the title match the following day.

Should The Rock and Reigns emerge victorious, the upcoming Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match between Reigns and Rhodes on April 7 will incorporate a Bloodline Rules stipulation. Conversely, should they suffer defeat, The Bloodline will be prohibited from being present at ringside.

“It would be a big upset if the babies [Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins] went over because then there’s no Bloodline interference. I think you’ve gotta put the heels over.”[From 05:31 – 05:40]

According to Russo, Rhodes’ potential loss against Reigns could be a strategic move to pave the way for a future showdown between The American Nightmare and The Rock.

“If it is Bloodline Rules, top of the fourth, and Cody’s got this thing won, and Rock winds up screwing Cody, bro, what everybody wants right now is Rock and Cody. And again, I’m just going by Cody’s promo. So if Rock winds up screwing Cody, now they’ve got Cody and The Rock. And the stipulation on that could be the only way Cody Rhodes ever gets another title shot at Roman Reigns is if he beats The Rock.”[From 06:01 – 06:49]

The Potential Clash of Titans: The Rock vs. Roman Reigns

If Cody Rhodes is unable to secure victories in both of his matches at WrestleMania XL, Vince Russo predicts that the RAW star’s efforts to “conclude the story”will extend into the summer months.

The previous WWE head writer also holds the belief that the groundwork could be laid for a potential showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns in the future.

“Now Cody has the one match against The Rock, the only way he gets another shot at Roman is if he beats The Rock,”Russo continued. “So now if Cody does beat Roman, now Roman’s got heat with The Rock because, ‘Bro, if you would have never lost that match, I would have never had to face him again.’ I think that could pay off a lot of things.”[From 07:27 – 07:47]

Russo believes that CM Punk should take on a different role on the WrestleMania XL card, rather than serving as a commentator for the Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins match.
