COD Mobile World Championship 2024: Highlights, Winners, and Prize Pool Breakdown

The Filipino esports team Elevate showcased an exceptional performance at the COD Mobile World Championship 2024, claiming the championship title after a decisive victory over China’s Qing Jiu Club in the Grand Finals held on October 6, 2024. Remarkably, Elevate remained undefeated throughout the tournament, securing a lucrative prize of $400,000, which constituted approximately 40% of the overall prize pool.

This prestigious event took place from October 4 to October 6, 2024, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, USA. The tournament was divided into two segments: the Swiss Stage and the Playoffs, bringing together 16 teams from various parts of the globe to compete for a staggering total prize pool of $1 million.

Qing Jiu Club started strong but encountered difficulties during the Grand Finals, ultimately finishing in a commendable second position and earning $170,000 in prize money.

XROCK had an impressive start to the tournament, topping the leaderboard during the early rounds and triumphing over Team GodLike in their inaugurating playoff match. However, they fell to Qing Jiu during the Semifinals, finishing with an $80,000 reward.

Brazil’s Galorys also had a promising beginning in the Playoffs by defeating Luminosity Gaming. Unfortunately, their momentum was lost against Elevate, but they still walked away with $80,000 in winnings.

Team GodLike from India struggled to meet expectations in the Playoffs, ultimately succumbing to XROCK. They had previously finished in second place during the 2023 COD Mobile World Championship.

Both Stalwart Esports from the Philippines and Luminosity Gaming faced early exits in the Playoffs. Wolves Esports, the reigning world champions from 2023, also had a disappointing performance, being outclassed by Elevate in their playoff match.

The eight teams that finished at the bottom of the standings in the World Championship 2024 were eliminated during the Swiss Stage. Several renowned teams, including India’s Team Vitality and Tribe Gaming, did not perform to their potential during this year’s tournament.
