Coco Gauff gives shout to Beyonce, shows love for singer’s latest album ‘Cowboy Carter’
On Friday, March 29th, Coco Gauff shared her appreciation for Beyonce’s latest album, “Cowboy Carter,”which she revealed to be a country album.
The announcement during the Super Bowl Sunday that the music icon would be releasing her eighth studio album in the country genre was met with excitement from fans, including Gauff who, like millions of others, reacted to the surprising news.
Although she wasn’t particularly fond of country music, Gauff did acknowledge that she would make an exception for this one occasion due to Beyonce’s involvement.
The American, on Saturday, March 20, posted on her Instagram to express her admiration for the new album. In her post, she included a screenshot of the song “Tyrant.”
In the 2024 Dubai Tennis Championships, Gauff had previously expressed great admiration for the singer during an interview on the WTA Insider Podcast just a few weeks ago.
“She confirmed that the Beyonce craze among her friends was genuine and that they were all avid supporters.”
“My friends, we have a Beyoncé group chat. So yes, we’re huge fans. Beyoncé, if you see this, I love you,”Gauff was quoted saying on the WTA Insider Podcast during the 2024 Dubai Tennis Championships.
The third-ranked American player even playfully suggested giving tennis lessons to Beyonce’s children.
“Maybe I can teach Rumi or Blue Ivy some tennis. I would do it. I would literally pay you to do it,”Gauff continued.
Coco Gauff’s Olympic Aspirations
During an interview with NBC News a few weeks prior, Coco Gauff expressed her desire to achieve both an Olympic medal and another Grand Slam in 2024.
“I want to win a Grand Slam and an Olympic medal. I particularly want to do it this year and win a medal — that’s one of my dreams that I wanted to do as a tennis player,” Coco Gauff was quoted as saying.
Due to testing positive for COVID right before the tournament, the American athlete was unable to compete in the 2020 Olympics and had to withdraw from the competition.
“I was [crushed] for a day, and then I was like, well, there’s nothing I can do about it,” Gauff said. “You know, people have lost family members. And I realized that life isn’t about playing tennis — so I was OK with it after a day.”
Gauff’s most recent appearance was at the Miami Open, where she was eliminated in the fourth round of the singles tournament by 23rd seed Caroline Garcia.
