The long-awaited Wolfenstein 3 may finally be in the works. After more than eight years since the release of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, fans have been eagerly anticipating the next chapter in William “B. J.”Blazkowicz‘s saga.

Initially, developer MachineGames hinted at the new installment shortly after the release of the previous game, but interest waned as details went quiet. Instead, the studio collaborated with Arkane Lyon to produce two spin-offs: Wolfenstein: Youngblood and the Oculus-exclusive Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot in 2019. Unfortunately, both games struggled with critical and commercial reception, resulting in a shift of focus to create Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a project spearheaded by Bethesda’s Todd Howard. This decision proved fruitful, leading to a highly acclaimed title. Nevertheless, it’s now time to bring closure to Blazkowicz’s story.

In recent months, the conversation surrounding Wolfenstein 3’s potential development has reignited, bolstered by reports from reliable outlets like Kotaku and Windows Central.Jerk Gustafsson, the studio director at MachineGames, has confirmed that they are still committed to the franchise, despite not providing extensive details regarding timelines.

Additionally, MP1st has recently revealed that a casting call is currently underway. Directed by Tom Keegan (Performance Director) and Emily Schweber (Casting Director), the project’s codename is reportedly ‘Valkyrie‘.The call seeks actors for the character Sofiya, a young Ukrainian orphan who will share a pivotal journey with the main protagonist and her adopted dog, Ralph.

The character description indicates that Sofiya is initially traumatized and distrustful due to the effects of war. However, under the care of resistance members—possibly affiliated with the Kreisau Circle—she evolves into a resilient survivor. Performance capture for this character is projected to commence in April, with further shooting scheduled through 2026 and into 2027.

However, fans may have to be patient regarding Wolfenstein 3’s debut. The developers have recently concluded working on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and its DLC, The Order of Giants. A more realistic release window for the new title may fall between 2028 and 2029.

In parallel, MachineGames is also collaborating with Amazon MGM Studios to adapt the Wolfenstein franchise into a television series set to air on Prime Video, expanding the narrative universe even further.
