Vibrant Betting Strategies on Intel’s Socket Divide: Introducing Battle-AX Boards Designed for DDR5 Price Challenges

Colorful has recently unveiled two budget-friendly motherboards designed for Intel’s LGA 1851 and LGA 1700 sockets, catering to both previous and latest-generation processors.

Colorful Launches Battle-AX B860M-Plus S and B760M-Plus S Motherboards Featuring WiFi 7 and PCIe Gen 5.0 Support for Intel 12th/13th/14th Gen and Core Ultra 200S Series

The Chinese hardware manufacturer Colorful has expanded its Battle-AX series with two newly launched motherboard models. While many competitors focus on supporting the latest Arrow Lake processors, Colorful strikes a balance by offering options compatible with both Arrow Lake and the widely-used 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Intel processors. These two new models are positioned in the budget segment and feature the B860 and B760 chipsets.

The Battle-AX B760M-Plus S WiFi7 stands out in the micro-ATX category by supporting Intel’s Alder Lake and Raptor Lake/Refresh processors. This is a strategic choice for users preferring budget-conscious builds that still harness the power of these established chipsets. As the prices for DDR5 memory remain steep, this motherboard offers compatibility with the more affordable DDR4 memory, enabling significant cost savings for consumers. A key highlight of the B760M-Plus S is its adoption of WiFi 7 technology, enhancing wireless connectivity’s reliability and bandwidth.

In terms of modern features, the B760M-Plus S incorporates a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot designed for high-performance GPUs, including the upcoming RTX 50 series and RX 9000 series. It is equipped with three PCIe 4.0 M.2 ports and four SATA ports for extensive storage options, supporting up to 128 GB of DDR4 RAM with speeds reaching 4800 MHz. Meanwhile, the Battle-AX B860M-Plus S, geared towards users desiring top-of-the-line specifications, delivers support for DDR5 memory with capacities of up to 192 GB and impressive transfer rates of up to 8800 MT/s. This model also features a PCIe 5.0 interface not only for the graphics card but also for the primary M.2 slot.
