It’s encouraging to observe that Intel’s Arc workstation GPUs can run the game Crimson Desert, albeit with some notable issues affecting the overall experience.
Crimson Desert Now Compatible with Intel Arc Pro B70 Workstation GPU, Yet Shimmering Issues Persist on Lower Settings
After approximately three weeks following its release, Pearl Abyss’s latest game, Crimson Desert, has expanded its compatibility to include Intel Arc graphics cards. The recent patch notes indicate that both discrete and integrated Intel Arc GPUs can now run the game. This update notably introduces support for XeSS 3 and Frame Generation. Since the Arc GPUs are divided into two categories—Consumer and Workstation—it’s anticipated that the Intel Arc Pro GPUs would perform adequately.

The YouTuber Tech Guy Beau confirmed this compatibility through gameplay on the newly released Arc Pro B70 GPU. Known as The Big Battlemage, the Arc Pro B70 is the flagship workstation graphics card featuring the unique BMG-G31 die, which is absent in consumer variants. During his tests, Beau reported an impressive performance, achieving an average of 70-80 FPS, with 1% low FPS figures remaining in the 60s.
Nevertheless, an unfortunate bug emerges when the game is played with graphical settings lower than Ultra. Beau observed excessive shimmering and artifacting at Medium or High presets, which vanished entirely at Ultra settings, indicating an inconsistency that developers need to address in future updates. Similar issues have also been noted on consumer-grade Arc GPUs, underscoring the challenges faced during the initial phase of support.

Regular updates are anticipated to resolve these performance hindrances. Additionally, there are concerns about the functionality of XeSS 3.0. While FSR 3.1 appears to deliver satisfactory visual results, the YouTuber mentioned that the Intel upscaling technology, despite providing a slight FPS increase, compromises the quality of some textures. For XeSS 3.0 to reach its full potential, further optimization from Pearl Abyss is essential.
