There is a recurring theme of luck among enthusiasts finding premium PC components at bargain prices, and this instance is no exception. Typically, a 32 GB DDR5 memory kit can range from $350 to $400, but in previous years before the pricing surge, these kits hovered around $100 to $150, depending on the brand and specifications.

In an interesting turn of events, u/HappifyChris discovered a Facebook Marketplace listing advertising a DDR4 RAM kit for $120. Although DDR4 prices are also steep these days, he astutely recognized the listed item was actually a DDR5 kit. Initially, he was using a DDR4 platform, but had aspirations to upgrade to DDR5. He believed that the effort would be thwarted by the high costs associated with such an upgrade.

Happily, he purchased the Corsair 32 GB DDR5 Dominator memory for only $120 and also upgraded to an MSI PRO Z790-A motherboard. Despite previously operating with an ASUS TUF Z690 WiFi D4, both motherboards utilized the same socket type, eliminating the need for a processor swap. The new DDR5 RAM kit performed exceptionally well on the updated motherboard, which is evident from the accompanying images. This savvy purchase saved him nearly $500 when comparing to the current market rate for the same Corsair Dominator DDR5 RAM.

Such extraordinary finds are becoming increasingly common on platforms like Reddit. Just recently, another user reported obtaining several pre-installed M.2 SSDs with a motherboard purchase for a mere $50. While these unexpected deals may not be commonplace, they are frequently shared in communities such as r/pcmasterrace, adding an element of excitement to the quest for affordable tech.
