In the world of Where Winds Meet, the An Unholy Prophecy quest serves as a thrilling chapter that challenges players in platforming, combat, and puzzle-solving. Set in the depths of the Martial Temple beneath Jadewood Court in Kaifeng, this quest introduces a Mysterious Painter who sends you on a mission to uncover a concealed chamber teeming with perilous traps, formidable enemies, and hidden weaponry. This comprehensive guide will take you step-by-step through the An Unholy Prophecy quest.
Initiating the An Unholy Prophecy Quest

To kick off your adventure with the An Unholy Prophecy Jianghu Legacy quest, navigate to the Jadewood Court in Kaifeng. Here, you will find the Martial Temple.
Once inside, locate the Mysterious Painter, who will automatically initiate the quest upon conversing with him. Following this dialogue, a new quest marker will appear, guiding you through the western areas of the temple.
It’s essential to equip the Meridian Touch Mystic Skill and stock up on fire arrows before diving into the quest, as these items are crucial for overcoming various puzzles. If you lack fire arrows, seek out a quiver within the temple or learn the crafting recipe to create some of your own.
With preparations complete, head towards the temple rooftops as indicated by the quest marker, and make your way into the Martial Hall.
Searching for the Traces of the God of Killing
Inside the Martial Hall, return to the Mysterious Painter by following the quest marker. After speaking with him again, your next task involves using fire arrows to ignite the hanging lamps.
Activating the lamps will unlock additional corridors, setting the stage for future puzzles involving the jade bell and knocker. Completing this step also rewards you with a new emote titled An Unholy Prophecy.
The Painter then discloses that to fulfill the prophecy, you must mimic the God of Killing’s pose in a designated spot.
Once you arrive at the marked location next to the painter, execute the An Unholy Prophecy emote from your Puzzle emotes tab while standing on the platform. Performing this emote will lower a mechanical platform, allowing you deeper access into the temple.
Exploring the Underground Passage
After descending into the underground passage, navigate through the area by heading towards the passage opposite the barred gate. This path will lead you into a confrontation with guards that you must defeat to progress and solve the looming puzzles.
To unlock the door ahead, which is protected by a jade bell and knocker, you must solve a quick puzzle: first, strike the bell, and immediately follow up by using your Meridian Touch ability on the knocker.
The door will lead into a grand hall adorned with suits of armor and weapon displays, ultimately guiding you to the Secret Edict Chamber. Be prepared, as you will encounter three enemies along the way.
After dispatching the guards, inspect the armor displays to find two sets missing their respective weapons. The quest requires you to locate both a long and a short weapon by exploring the left and right wings of the hall.
Retrieving the Long Weapon from the Left Wing
Start your search for the long weapon by going down the stairs near the entrance of the left wing. This corridor contains wall-mounted spike traps that rhythmically extend and retract. Carefully observe the pattern and time your movements to dash forward when the spikes withdraw.
Getting struck by the traps will cost you health and may require you to restart portions of this segment. Proceed until you find a lever at the end of the corridor, which will trigger mercenary guards to pursue you. You can use the lever again to activate the spikes and take them down.
Continue through until you encounter another bell and knocker puzzle. As before, strike the bell, then quickly use the Meridian Touch ability on the knocker to progress further. Eventually, you will reach a chamber guarded by a lone guard. Defeat him and claim the spear.
Next, exit through the gate and traverse until you arrive at a circular chamber. Look up and jump between platforms to return to the Grand Arsenal Hall.
While in the circular chamber, seek out a hidden chest. Upon entering the grand hall, find another spear, Rampage, displayed in the center. Behind this display, navigate through more horizontal spike traps that activate from the wall on the right.
Proceed through the traps at the right moment, continuing until you reach another lever at the end of the hall, where another bell-and-knocker puzzle awaits.
In the following room, locate the Silver Spear of Discipline. Upon exiting, you’ll face additional enemies. Eliminate them and return to the Grand Arsenal Hall. Interact with the armor to select Long Weapon Returned, restoring the weapon to its display.
Finding the Short Weapon in the Right Wing
Next, retrace your steps to the right wing to locate the short weapon. This wing presents challenges akin to the left one, comprising its own assortment of spike traps, including ceiling-mounted spikes that descend.
Encounter a second set of falling spikes that demands patience. Crouch and carefully time your movements to enable safe passage. Pull a lever to delve deeper into the chambers and complete the subsequent bell-and-knocker puzzle. The room housing the short weapon is guarded by a heavily armored foe with a shield.
To effectively conquer this shielded opponent, utilize the Tai Chi mystic skill if your initial attempt at a hit fails. This skill can break their defense and create an opening for a stealthy takedown.
After vanquishing the guard, collect the weapon and shift into a circular chamber with a spiked pit. Jump across platforms with care to arrive safely on the other side. You’ll discover the Triumph Sword in this hall.
Continue into another corridor with downward-falling spikes. Dash through, activate the lever at the end, and solve another bell-and-knocker puzzle. Completing this unlocks the path to a hall where the Blackcloud Long Sword can be found.
Defend against the guards in the corridor and complete this sequence. Upon returning to the Grand Arsenal Hall, interact with the armor and select Short Weapon Returned.
Entering the Hidden Door and Exploring Further
After you’ve returned both the long and short weapons to their armor displays, a cutscene will trigger. The restored armor activates a concealed mechanism, causing a secret door to creak open.
This door ushers you into a circular chamber featuring a spike trap system that raises the floor with spikes. Swiftly sprint and jump to navigate without lingering on the platforms. After overcoming this obstacle, you will find a chest in the ensuing chamber that leads to the final confrontation. Open the chest and brace yourself for the climactic battle against Shi Zhen.
Strategies for Defeating Shi Zhen

Your confrontation with Shi Zhen unfolds in the final chamber of the An Unholy Prophecy quest and can become quite hectic, particularly as he enters accompanied by four guards.
It’s crucial not to charge straight at Shi Zhen at the start, as his guards can stun-lock you or attack from behind, making it challenging to dodge his heavy strikes. Focus on eliminating the minions first to simplify the encounter.
Once the added enemies are disposed of, zero in on Shi Zhen. Dodge his powerful attacks, counterattack when openings arise, and steadily chip away at his health until he is defeated. Following your victory, a cutscene will play, allowing you to claim the rewards housed within the chest.
With Shi Zhen vanquished, follow the quest marker to exit the underground complex. The Mysterious Painter will be waiting for you upon your return to the surface. Engage with him one final time to officially complete the An Unholy Prophecy quest.
