Following his critical comments, Michaud-Cromp reported being placed on a three-day unpaid suspension, which he attributed to his public statements regarding the company’s return-to-office expectations. He indicated that this disciplinary measure was connected to an alleged violation of his obligation to remain loyal to the company.

In a subsequent post on LinkedIn, Michaud-Cromp announced that he had been terminated from his position at Ubisoft. He stated, “Today, I was terminated by Ubisoft, effective immediately. This was not my decision.”While he chose not to divulge specifics concerning his dismissal, his commitment to transparency in advocating for better workplace conditions is evident.

“Sharing feedback or opinions respectfully does not lead to a dismissal. We have a clear Code of Conduct that outlines our shared expectations for working together safely and respectfully, which employees review and sign each year. When that is breached, our established procedures apply, including an escalation of measures depending on the nature, severity, and repetition of the breach. We won’t comment further.”

Michaud-Cromp is an advocate for fostering effective communication within teams, whether in remote, in-office, or hybrid settings. In an interview with Kotaku, he stated, “In my experience, the effectiveness of teams is less about physical proximity and more about critical fundamentals such as clear goals, trust, documentation, tools, and communication practices.”He emphasized that teams committed to these principles tend to perform well, regardless of their location.
