The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, AMD’s most powerful Zen 5 X3D processor, has made its first appearance in various benchmark tests on HWBot. These evaluations were conducted by a Bulgarian enthusiast using the username “Stoikov”and include scores from respected benchmarking tools such as 7-Zip, Cinebench 2026 (in both single and multi-threaded formats), and Cinebench R23 for multi-core performance.

Interestingly, the benchmark results do not reflect the full potential of this high-end processor. The cooling solution employed during testing appears to have limited its performance. While specifics about the cooler—whether it was a standard AMD model or an aftermarket air cooler—remain unclear, it seems inadequate for effectively managing the heat generated by this formidable 16-core/32-thread processor, which features two chiplets (CCDs).Notably, the processor frequently reached its maximum operating temperature of 95°C, sometimes exceeding this threshold.

In specific tests, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 was recorded at temperatures peaking at 96°C, indicating that thermal throttling was occurring due to the cooler’s inefficiency. However, the system utilized for these evaluations included robust components such as an ASUS ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi motherboard and 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, complemented by a Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU. The notable scores were:

  • 7-Zip: 227, 919 MIPS at 5.13 GHz
  • Cinebench 2026 Multi-threaded: 9, 246 CB
  • Cinebench R23 Multi-core: 38, 579 CB

During the Cinebench 2026 Single-Threaded test, the CPU reached an impressive frequency of 5.5 GHz, achieving a score of 746 cb, placing it significantly on the leaderboard at 37th position. While this score falls short of higher expectations, the lower temperature of 76°C during this test suggests that with better cooling solutions, the CPU could achieve much higher benchmarks.

At present, no gaming benchmarks are available, raising curiosity about the CPU’s performance in gaming scenarios. Given the integration of dual X3D chiplets, expectations are high for its gaming capabilities.
