Sapphire RX 9070 XT Nitro+ Overheating Issues: Users Share Experiences and RMA Denial

The Sapphire RX 9070 XT, particularly the 16-pin variant, has encountered significant issues, with fresh reports emerging periodically detailing problems experienced by users.

User Experiences Highlight Problems with Sapphire’s RX 9070 XT Nitro+

While an exact count of incidents involving burnt 16-pin power connectors for the Radeon RX 9070 XT is unclear, the Nitro+ edition from Sapphire seems to be at the center of the majority of these complaints. Notably, among the RX 9070 XT models featuring these troublesome 16-pin connectors, the Nitro+ has received multiple reports of connector burn issues.

Recently, two users on Reddit shared their experiences regarding these problems. One of them, u/ProfessionalHost3913, has gone through the RMA process twice due to issues with his RX 9070 XT Nitro+.He initially faced a burnt connector and praised Sapphire’s swift replacement service, even though he had to pay for shipping and insurance on the return.

However, upon receiving his replacement card, he found it scuffed, which suggested that it was possibly refurbished. Despite continuing with this second card, he faced severe performance issues; where his first GPU achieved nearly 26, 000 points in 3DMark Time Spy, the replacement managed only around 19, 000 points. Frustrated with this downgrade, he decided to initiate yet another RMA request.

Another user, u/WozzerBo, experienced a similar fate with his Sapphire RX 9070 XT Nitro+, reporting a burnt 16-pin connector on the same day. The distinctive burn pattern on the connector echoed previous reports, and he indicated that high VRAM temperatures were an issue that contributed to the GPU’s malfunction. When he sought an RMA, the company returned the same unit with a suspicious change to a screw marked with red paint.

I already did. They refused to RMA and lied about it being tampered with, and then when I made a complaint and took it further up the company, they sided with themselves over me and dismissed the complaint

In his case, after coping with the burnt connector, the company turned his RMA request down, alleging user tampering. This scenario raises concerns not only about the failures of the connector itself but also highlights troubling practices from GPU manufacturers regarding their RMA processes. Such handling of customer complaints could ultimately affect brand trust and consumer loyalty.
