A Reddit user known as u/MaybeNotThrowing shared a troubling experience concerning his Galaxy Ring, which could have led to severe consequences. The incident unfolded after the user purchased the ring shortly after its debut in July 2024.

Approximately nine months later, around April 2025, he noticed that the battery stopped retaining a charge. Despite this malfunction, he chose to continue wearing the device, having grown accustomed to its presence on his finger. Recently, however, when attempting to charge the ring, he discovered it could no longer fit the charger. Upon further examination, he found that the device had quietly swollen, effectively transforming it into a “ticking time bomb.”

It’s crucial to mention that Samsung likely isn’t at fault in this situation. The user had the opportunity to replace the battery during the warranty period but opted not to address the issue.
