ROG Xbox Ally X Enhances Plug-and-Play Experience with Auto Super Resolution and Docked Mode Upgrades

Significant Updates for ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X Handheld PCs

The ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X have recently undergone a substantial update that enhances the overall user experience significantly. Gamers who invested in these high-end handheld devices can now enjoy several improvements that move them closer to a plug-and-play experience reminiscent of traditional consoles.

Improving Docked Mode Functionality

A major focus of this update is to streamline gameplay when the devices are docked and connected to larger displays like TVs and monitors. For instance, when using Docked Mode, the system will now automatically adjust to match your TV’s resolution. This eliminates the need for users to manually configure settings, making it much more user-friendly.

Furthermore, the integration of various advanced features from contemporary TVs has been enhanced. When playing in Docked Mode, users can benefit from features such as Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) on devices from Samsung, LG, and Vizio. Additionally, options like Auto Game Mode on Samsung TVs and Game/PC Mode on Vizio screens are automatically activated, ensuring optimal performance during gameplay.

Enhanced Controller Compatibility and Gamepad Features

Pairing an Xbox or Xbox-compatible controller while in Docked Mode has also been simplified. The introduction of the Gamepad Cursor feature allows players to utilize the handheld’s gamepad controls in applications that do not inherently support them. This represents a significant step toward enhancing the overall Docked Mode experience.

Introducing Auto Super Resolution

One of the standout features in this update is the launch of Auto Super Resolution (AutoSR), currently accessible for Xbox Insider users while the device is in Docked Mode. This feature enhances the graphics quality even further by complementing existing super resolution capabilities in compatible games.

Gamers can expect to experience AutoSR in a variety of titles, such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Forza Horizon 5, Control, and DOOM: The Dark Ages, among others. This improvement promises to deliver an even more immersive gaming experience with enhanced visual fidelity.

Streamlined Game Library Management

Additional improvements include an upcoming update aimed at streamlining game library management. Players will soon be able to effortlessly add, remove, edit, and launch games and apps directly through the Xbox interface. This feature is set to be released later this month, further enhancing the user experience.
