Roblox Achieves 10 Billion Monthly Hours in 2025, Exceeding Combined Hours of Steam and PlayStation

Having immersed myself in the world of Roblox for the past five years, I can confidently say that 2025 has showcased a remarkable transformation for the platform. What once operated as a grounds for quirky projects that either skyrocketed in popularity or faded into obscurity has now flourished into a phenomenal success story. In this year alone, Roblox achieved more monthly engagement hours than the combined totals of Steam and PlayStation.

Roblox Surpasses Steam and PlayStation’s Monthly Engagement in 2025

According to Matthew Ball’s State of Video Gaming report, Roblox reached over 10 billion hours of monthly engagement in 2025. In contrast, Steam recorded just over 5 billion monthly hours, while PlayStation averaged a little above 4 billion. The combined figures for Steam and PlayStation total approximately 9 billion hours, which means Roblox surpassed them by a noteworthy margin.

This gap is significant, especially when comparing the historical engagement of these platforms. Even considering that the PlayStation’s statistics derive from previous years, the current data leaves ample room for Roblox’s growth. Additionally, engagement trends for Sony’s platform have shown stability, indicating that an immediate multi-billion dollar increase is unlikely.

The data visualization illustrates this distinction further. Steam’s total engagement encompasses both first-party and third-party titles across PC and handheld devices, while PlayStation’s statistics reflect its console engagement. However, neither platform can rival the sheer volume of engagement generated within the singular, dynamic ecosystem of Roblox.

What fuels this extraordinary engagement is not solely a single blockbuster hit. Titles like Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot have achieved substantial player engagement shortly after their releases. Notably, the updates for Grow a Garden and the admin events surrounding Steal a Brainrot have significantly contributed to Roblox’s inflated engagement metrics. Established experiences, such as 99 Nights in the Forest and Brookhaven RP, continue to accrue impressive hour counts without leaning on traditional sequel models.

Roblox operates less as a mere storefront and more as an ever-evolving arcade that operates around the clock. New games emerge on a daily basis, rapidly gaining popularity when the algorithm promotes them. Moreover, Roblox game codes enhance player experiences, providing in-game incentives without cost. Reflecting on these developments, this moment doesn’t feel accidental; rather, it embodies the culmination of a generation that has learned to build their own games rather than wait for them to be produced.
