Recent price increases have drastically altered the status of NVIDIA and AMD graphics processing units (GPUs), pushing these once best-selling models out of the spotlight. Not only are they losing traction in the U. S.market, but their popularity is waning in several other regions as well.
Decline of AMD RX 9070 XT and NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti in Sales Rankings
Launched in March of last year, AMD’s RDNA 4 flagship GPU, the Radeon RX 9070 XT, quickly surged to the top of Amazon’s sales charts. Within just one day, it claimed the top position, accompanied by various other models that occupied notable spots within the top ten. The ongoing rivalry between the RTX 5070 series and the RX 9070 XT ensured both contenders maintained their positions among the best-selling GPUs for several months.
However, this dominance now appears to be a thing of the past. Escalating prices have led to a significant decline in the sales rankings for these GPUs. Currently, the Radeon RX 9070 XT is positioned at 11th place, while the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti has fallen to the 19th spot on Amazon US. While this trend is not uniform across all countries, it showcases a significant downturn for these models in multiple Amazon marketplaces.

In the current landscape, mid-range GPUs such as the RTX 50 series and RX 9000 series have started to dominate the sales charts on Amazon. The RTX 5070 has surprisingly maintained its position at the top, selling at its suggested retail price (MSRP).Other noteworthy models filling the top ten include the RTX 5060, RTX 5080, RX 9060 XT 16 GB, and RTX 5060 Ti. Although the RX 9070 XT still ranks within the top ten on Amazon Canada, its closest alternative is now a daunting 23rd position, indicating a significant decline.
On the Amazon UK platform, the RX 9070 XT is performing slightly better, yet it remains far from reclaiming the top position. The RTX 5070 Ti has also shown some resilience in these markets. However, the reasons behind the reduced interest in both GPUs are becoming clearer. Rising prices are contributing to diminished sales, along with increasingly scarce availability. Finding the RTX 5070 Ti on Amazon US has become quite challenging, compounded by rumors suggesting NVIDIA may be discontinuing the model temporarily, further impacting its market presence.
This month, the RX 9070 XT has surged to $100 higher than the previous month, leading many consumers to pivot towards more affordable options, such as the RTX 5070 and the slower RX 9060 XT 16 GB, which better align with current budget constraints.
