Projected NVIDIA GPU Supply: Three GeForce RTX 50 Models to Account for 75% in Q1 2026

Projected NVIDIA GPU Supply: Three GeForce RTX 50 Models to Account for 75% in Q1 2026

NVIDIA’s recent supply strategy focuses heavily on 8 GB graphics cards, with higher-end GPUs expected to represent a minor fraction of the overall supply, as outlined in a new report.

NVIDIA RTX 5060, RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB, and RTX 5070 12 GB Anticipated to Represent 75% of Total Shipments This Quarter

A report by Board Channels has reaffirmed NVIDIA’s latest supply strategy for its GeForce RTX 50 series. As the cost of VRAM increases, NVIDIA is shifting focus to 8 GB variants, leading to a decrease in supply for models with higher memory capacities. This strategic realignment prioritizes three specific GPUs within the RTX 50 lineup.

The prioritized models include the GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB, RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB, and RTX 5070 12 GB. While it has been established that the 8 GB versions will not encounter the same supply constraints as their 16 GB counterparts, there had previously been uncertainty around the availability of the RTX 5070. With the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti becoming increasingly difficult to find in various markets, the RTX 5070 stands as NVIDIA’s primary option, especially as the pricing for the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB has nearly doubled.

The RTX 5070 has 4 GB less VRAM than its competitors and plays a crucial role in NVIDIA’s strategy against AMD’s mid-range offerings, such as the RX 9060 XT 16 GB and RX 9070 XT. Although the RTX 5070 is not a direct rival to these models, maintaining a steady supply is essential for bridging the gap between the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB and the more advanced RTX 5080.

Collectively, the RTX 5060, 5060 Ti 8 GB, and RTX 5070 are projected to account for approximately 75% of NVIDIA’s GPU shipments this quarter. The remaining 25% will consist of other models, including the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB, RTX 5080 16 GB, and RTX 5090. Despite NVIDIA’s broader WeU range compared to AMD, the company may still struggle to meet all market demands.

In contrast, AMD has reportedly prioritized the RX 9060 XT 16 GB and RX 9070 XT due to their favorable market appeal. While the availability and pricing for the RX 9060 XT 16 GB remain strong, the RX 9070 XT has seen a significant increase in cost in recent weeks.
