Migrating to Windows 11 25H2
To enhance user experience and utilize the newest innovations, Microsoft encourages users to upgrade to Windows 11 version 25H2, often referred to as the Windows 11 2025 update. Users can initiate the upgrade by heading to the Windows Update section within the Settings menu and selecting “Check for updates.”
Noteworthy Features in the 25H2 Update
Last month, during the initial October 2025 launch, Microsoft outlined the new features arriving with Windows 11 version 25H2. Notably, this version is largely based on 24H2, facilitating an effortless upgrade process through the enablement package eKB5054156. Users can follow specific guidelines provided in our accompanying article to enable features available in both 25H2 and 24H2.
Automated Feature Updates for Eligible Devices
According to Microsoft, the new feature update will be automatically deployed to eligible devices currently operating on Windows 11 23H2. This automatic facilitation means that devices running the OS on unsupported machines will not receive the Windows 11 25H2 update.
End of the Road for Unsupported Windows 11 Devices
Microsoft writes: “As of November 11, 2025, Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, version 23H2, have reached end of servicing….Devices running Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, version 23H2 that are not managed by IT departments will receive the Windows 11, version 25H2 update automatically.”
This update cycle signifies the conclusion for many systems operating on Windows 11 23H2 or earlier versions, particularly those using older unsupported PCs. It is crucial to note that versions 24H2 and 25H2 cannot be installed on processors that lack SSE4.2 and PopCnt support. Systems designed after 2008 typically come equipped with the necessary capabilities, mitigating these concerns for most users.
