The exclusive NVIDIA RTX 5090 is not only a high-ticket item; in certain regions, acquiring one resembles winning a lottery. This scenario particularly applies to the MSI RTX 5090 32G Lightning Z, a limited-edition graphics card that’s creating quite a buzz.
MSI RTX 5090 32G Lightning Z Available Only via Lottery in Taiwan with Limited Allocation
While standard GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards are already priced considerably higher than their suggested retail prices, the MSI GeForce RTX 5090 32G Lightning Z takes it a step further. Priced at over $5, 200, the chance to buy this exclusive model in Taiwan isn’t merely about having the cash—potential buyers must participate in a lottery for the rare opportunity to purchase it. According to Cool PC, only a few units are available in Taiwan, significantly increasing the difficulty of acquiring one.
With only 1, 300 units of the RTX 5090 32G Lightning Z produced globally, a mere 100 of these coveted GPUs have been set aside for Taiwan. MSI Taiwan has recently introduced a lottery event granting access to just 10 of these units, suggesting the remaining 90 will also be sold through a similar lottery system. Reports from @unikoshardware indicate that certain retailers may only offer this GPU as part of a complete PC build, further complicating accessibility.

The MSI RTX 5090 Lightning Z differentiates itself from other premium editions with its extraordinary capabilities tailored for breaking overclocking records. This GPU boasts a factory-set operating thermal design power (TDP) of up to 1000W. For serious enthusiasts, it offers a whopping 2500W TDP in XOC mode. However, recent leaks have emerged around BIOS options purportedly functioning on non-MSI cards, allowing for 800W and 1000W operation. Caution is advised, as using a single 12V-2×6 connector to power such high wattage could lead to severe hardware damage.
Equipped with a robust voltage regulation module (VRM) and an all-copper cooling block, the RTX 5090 Lightning Z makes significant advancements in thermal management. This innovative design is supplemented by a 360mm all-in-one (AIO) cooler, enabling users to push the GPU’s clock speeds without relying on nitrogen cooling. Additionally, an 8-inch display integrated into the cooling block introduces a unique aesthetic to the card, marking it as the pinnacle of the RTX 5090 series.
