Recent developments indicate that CXMT, a prominent Chinese memory manufacturer, is expanding its product line to include LPCAMM2 memory modules in addition to its well-known DDR4 and DDR5 DRAM chips.
CXMT Enters LPCAMM2 Market, Lenovo ThinkBook 2026 at the Forefront
Reports suggest that CXMT is venturing into new territory by producing LPCAMM2 memory modules designed specifically for mobile devices. Unlike many competing firms, which primarily focus on DDR4 and DDR5 solutions, CXMT is innovating with the LPCAMM2 technology that replaces traditional soldered memory chips found in laptops. Notably, Lenovo’s upcoming ThinkBook 2026 is projected to be the inaugural consumer laptop featuring LPCAMM2 LPDDR5X memory.
Initially, there was speculation that Micron would supply the LPCAMM2 memory, especially following the launch of the ThinkPad P1 G7 Workstation, the first laptop to incorporate Micron’s LPCAMM2 LPDDR5X. However, recent insights from @realVictor_M have clarified that the ThinkBook 2026 will utilize LPCAMM2 memory modules manufactured by CXMT instead.

Currently, CXMT stands out as one of the few manufacturers to launch LPCAMM2 memory chips. The showcased memory module boasts a substantial 32 GB configuration (32GB 2D4Rx32), utilizing dual LPDDR5 packages per channel and a remarkable speed rating of 8533 MT/s, as highlighted in previous reports.
The LPDDR5X-equivalent LPCAMM2 memory architecture is poised to offer users an upgrade path with minimal compromise on performance. These sleek memory modules feature a significantly reduced profile compared to conventional SO-DIMM configurations, making them particularly advantageous for next-generation laptops. Nonetheless, it may take some time for LPCAMM2 to become a standard in the mainstream laptop market.
