ICARUS Console Edition Launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in February 2026

ICARUS Console Launch Announced by GRIP Studios

The highly anticipated console version of ICARUS, a PvE sci-fi survival game developed by Dean Hall and Rocketwerkz, is set to launch on February 26, 2026. This announcement was made by publisher GRIP Studios, following initial revelations in October 2025 regarding the game’s planned console release during the first quarter of 2026.

What’s Included in the Console Edition?

Players can expect to receive the base game along with its exciting New Frontiers expansion. Additionally, the console version will feature the Pet Companion Pack, which introduces eleven new animals, including:

  • Three different cats
  • Five unique dogs
  • Three types of horses

Each animal comes with its own experience levels and talent trees, designed to enhance your survival journey as they support you in the wild.

A Journey Through ICARUS

ICARUS was first launched on PC in 2021, and its arrival on consoles marks a significant milestone five years later. Despite a challenging initial release, Rocketwerkz has committed to ongoing updates and improvements, which has cultivated a strong and loyal player community.

The New Frontiers expansion transports players to the alien landscape of Prometheus, offering a massive 128 km² area to explore. Newcomers to the game will have plenty of challenges to tackle as they navigate this unforgiving environment.

Crossplay Limitations

It’s important to note that the console version will not support crossplay functionality. Players on PC will not be able to team up with those on consoles, and there will also be restrictions between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players. To enjoy multiplayer sessions with friends, players will need to be on the same platform.

Future Updates and Possibilities

While crossplay support is not currently available, GRIP Studios has indicated that they are exploring options for its implementation in the future. Moreover, there is speculation about a potential release for a Nintendo Switch 2, but GRIP Studios is focusing on the successful launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions first.
